Bring down the sky finally shows you Batarian raiders that were alluded to through the Mindoir backstory, it was raided brutally by Batarian pirates and little in the way of human survivors made it back to the Systems Alliance, while some others were killed or turned into indentured slaves.
One of the backstories you can choose for Shepard is that Shepard was born and raised on Mindoir and left the colony at 16 during the raid and then went straight into the Alliance military. Shepard's family was killed as well.
If you choose that background, you can also select the war hero background as well in fighting off Batarians on Elysium. it gives your Shepard a well rounded experience in dealing with Batarians and the more aware of the Batarians won't be happy to see Shepard either, it will probably be mentioned that your background is a sore spot to them.
Absolutely, but ME 1 is inferior game BUT its necessary to play that first for story reasons and getting to know all the characters.
The game is fairly replayable due to massive difference in the character roles, also the in-game choices. So it is no big deal to go with the weird sequence. But consider to play from the first.
Also, I'm willing to play ME 1 first, it still seems like a decent game. I've played a lot of older games and found them enjoyable, hopefully it will be fine. And I actually really enjoy sci fi themed things- such as halo.
Let me know, thanks
Mass effect 2, especially if you get all of the DLC, is an amazing game. They still made a few mistakes, but the stories and characters are all done so amazingly. Combat good. no more having to drive around that stupid mako. Far superior inventory.
and then I'm going to have to tell you that the most evil thing. you're going to need the tool over to origin and get Mass effect 3 and all of the DLC. Because as much as I love Mass effect 2, I love Mass effect 3 that much more. The combat has gotten to the point where it's ultra streamlined. And not in like a dumbed-down kind of way, it's fast and fluid, and you will feel like an absolute beast when you get it down. The characters are incredibly well written yet again, but you get to wrap up a lot of the storylines that were hanging from the previous games. And one of the best DLC I've ever seen in a game, the citadel, is an experience that one must have at least once.
I mean not me. I Played through the citadel multiple times. It combines incredibly touching story with legitimate and honest humor. The Mordon audio log got me Misty eyed while I was laughing.
The franchise is good. Really really good. and the DLC might cost a bit but it is absolutely worth every penny because it adds so much more to the story. And the game can change quite dramatically based on character gender and relationships with other characters.
It's a 10 out of 10 for Mass effect 2, and for me 3 is definitely going to 11.
You can skip ME1 DLCs and be fine. They dont add too much to the game and you get a really, and i mean really, small reference to one in ME2 and then you get a meaningful reference for the other DLC in ME3 but you wont really miss much at all if you skip ME1 DLC. The meaningful one can be easily ignored.
ME2..... sadly like just about all the DLC is worth it.... i even think the skin packs are worth it but obviously only buy the skin packs if you have the money, the other ones are really in-depth DLCs that have amazing stories and amazing connections in ME3. If you HAVE to choose, Shadow Broker, Arrival, Kasumi, Zaeed, Overlord.
The reason I put the list in that order is Shadow Broker has strong ties in the third game and is a sizable piece of information, Arrival is canon and is why you start ME3 the way you do, Kasumi is an amazing character addition and will make appearance in ME3s game on a side story same with Zaeed and Overlord is only last due to importance and how little it can affect ME2 and ME3.... its absolutely amazing though.
Mass Effect 3 I'd say From Ashes, Leviathan, Citadel, Omega.
Citadel is a great big party and regathering of all the important people you met over the 3 games and is rather fun and interesting. From Ashes you get an iconic character that has a lot to say about what happened before ME1 and such and Leviathan.... well if you pay close attention in ME1 its a mention of it existing, ME2 has a small mention, and ME3 you finally find it and it is something quite important to the overall story.
buy ARMA 3
Dont listen to this meme comment, Mass Effect 2 literally has more sold copies for a reason. Arma 3 is fun and all but seriously.... dont derail the thread to push a game you think is fun when the topic is about another game in a completely different genre
Having the trilogy makes sense. But you might consider to use the vault instead, if they still have it around $5/mo as at the start.
