Is there anyone here who has played the Disgaea series?

I've been looking to get into this series and figured I might still try to jump into it and buy at least one or two of the games before the sale is over. But I'm wondering if I should try to play them all or if I should just play a more recent one or a specific one, and if so, which.

I have played 1, 2 and 4. Disgaea 2 is a pretty solid and good game i used to play it a lot on my PSP.

I think everyone is an independent story with recurrent characters (Etona, Laharl and Flonne the protagonists of the first game and the anime)

I have played probably a few hundred hours across Disgaea 1-6 with various levels of completion in each game. Most of the games are quite similar, with recycled characters, enemies, gameplay mechanics, and so on. I don't recommend trying to play them all because they get super repetitive in the late game with the endless grinding and whatnot. You can get basically the entire Disgaea experience by just playing through one of them.

That all being said, I recommend Disgaea 5. It has everything you'd want from the series in one game, and it's quite good.

this aint the disgaea forum and i aint no fan of the series. but all games are quite alright. i like 1 most

Since story-wise they are mostly unrelated to each other, yet have very similar story plots and gameplay styles, you may want to go to play a recent version for better visuals. Disgaea 5 is pretty awesome and you cannot go wrong with it.

As far as I'm aware there is no rule against talking about specific games in this forum, even if they have their own hubs on Steam. Besides, this is about all of the games and not any single one. Not gonna repost this on every single hub to ask
