1-2mg unless you are absolutely certain you need more, otherwise maybe it's not the right solution.
With that having been said, in trying to find the L.D. 50 of melatonin, all I could find was this article[www.sleepadvisor.org] suggesting it has not been established. It suggests the most you can probably take without potentially suffering side-effects is probably 10 miligrams, most doctors advise 5 miligrams at the most, with 2 milligrams being a moderate dosage and 1 being a light dosage.
If you have 10 miligram pills, try splitting them in halves or quarters and see if that works first. Also, maybe try consulting an actual doctor.
it's a marketing term.
nobody paid for marketing on melatonin because it's a scam in the first place.
but the scam extends to synthetic horomones of all kinds, such as insulin.
the entire field of sleep medicine is a scam, and it's insulting.
probably, but not in the people who need it.
Oh and, I am no melatonin expert, but as a general rule:
More doesn't mean faster, it is how you take it that matters, and the release rate depends on the type of pill. Also, more doesn't have to mean better, and more normally means higher chance of side effects
You’ll just get used to it, or, worst case you’ll be nauseous and feel sick. You can’t really OD on melatonin unless you’re eating bottles upon bottles in one sitting.
It’s not pleasant to have too much but I wouldn’t worry about it.
Melatonin supplements will stop working once your body becomes used to the influx.
The goal: 7-8hr of sleep a night.
