France makes abortion a constitutional right - first country in the world!

France has become the first country to include the right to abortion in its constitution. The parliament has voted to revise the country's 1958 constitution to enshrine "women's guaranteed freedom to abort".

Big news from the standpoint of women's rights. What's noticeable is that this wasn't even a close vote. 780 voted in favor, while 72 voted against. That means more than 90%!

"Abortion has been legal in France since 1975, but polls show around 85% of the public supported amending the constitution to protect the right to end a pregnancy."

What do you think about this move? Should other countries follow the lead?

Well if you want my input on the topic I'd say that it's pretty cringe-worthy to enshrine abortion as a human right in their constitution, and the fact that they are first only highlights how absurd it is.

What does them being the first ones have to do with how absurd it is? Weird standard.

I don't have a problem with it as long as the people needing to get the abortion pay for it themselves.

There is a reason consequences matter. Learn a lesson. Keep holding peoples hands and they never learn to do anything themselves.

Maybe the lesson they will learn has to do with protection the next time.

birth control is absolutely necessary, and the worst way to continue in this world is to force your beliefs upon others.

Parents who don't think before having sex are the ones not deserving of children and abortion isn't any percent necessary for those who use common sense.

men and childcare are thankfully being more intertwined, atleast in western countries which is so sad.---> i.e. changing diapers... the percentage of men who have never changed diapers is decreasing. that is just depressing.

parenting is a two way street, nd men biologically have been spared from all the horrors of having a female body.
men dont understand having to get your body destroyed, a c-section cutting through all those layers of the body just to get to the baby, having scars, watching your body decay, then having your body as a milk dispenser, and then of all that -- being expected to take care of not only the real child, but also your man as though he is an incapable manchild himself!

How do you prevent a mother from dying from medical complications, when she has to birth a child that does not survive more than a couple of minutes?
