Should we buy a Sega Genesis or a Super Nintendo?
Some of my friends play Sega Genesis and my other friends play Super Nintendo.
Title.
I'm only allowed to have one videogame system (we are not that rich).
This is going to be my first game console..
..so I don't wanna miss out - I wanna play the best games!
Help me choose pls

"Blast Processing" might be meaningless marketing BS, but Sega still does what Nintendon't.

Snes of course.

the snes was largely rehashes of nes content, as people had essentially stopped dealing with nintendo owing to their license theft practices. the few standouts were rare, as in literally the company rare, who stopped working with nintendo owing to said license theft. for example stealing the dkc engine and releasing game after game on it, without rare.

genesis had a more diverse game selection, but it was predominantly inexperienced developers the zaibatsu hadn't bothered to conquer yet.

so you get a lot of crappy games either way. it just depends on whether you want an emotional connection with ecco or super mario paint.

Genesis

Pretty huge library of great stuff.

Streets of Rage games, Sonic games, Golden Axe games, Ristar, Alisia Dragoon, Phantasy Star 2 - 4, Road Rash, NHL '94, Revenge of Shinobi, Gunstar Heroes, Contra Hard Corps, Zero Tolerance, Splatterhouse 3, Thunder Force 3, Earthworm Jim...
Sega didn't censor MK.

nintendo only censored mk to do justice to the 'must be altered' section of their license porting agreement.

if they left the game unaltered they'd have to assert that it was an original Nintendo property.

like they tried to do with Snake Rattle N' Roll.

I prefer the Sega Genesis, but both are great and for sure there are some games I would miss either way.
For me personally on the Genesis there are many first party games that I love and third party games that I love too, on the SNes there are many third party games that I love but not many Nintendo first party games (Mario in 2D was not that great imo, 3D is a lòot better, and the only Zelda I really like a lot is Twilight Princess), but third party games tend to have better graphics (expecially better colours) on the SNes.
Since I like so much some of the Genesis first party exclusives for me the Genesis has more personality and more charm but both of them are ghreat.

Do the best thing which is also the morally correct thing: use your money for a Sega Mega Drive mini (if I remember correctly you are from Europe, right? So it is the Mega Drive) and use this
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1118310/RetroArch/
for SNes game so you don't miuss anything and give your money to the more acceptable less evil company (now that Nintendo is lead by Scumtaro Furukawa)
Become rich, own both consoles. Do find an original GameCube though, it rocks!

SNES.

SNES had a superior library.

Other than Strider(the actual good version), Sonic and Altered Beast I don't remember any really strong Genesis games(not that I paid attention to that side of the console wars).

Having played both systems when they were out I would always suggest a Super Nintendo over the Genesis.

This would be one of those reasons right here.
