Compared to other platforms it's really difficult to get banned from there, and even then it's temporary and only for things like spam or off topic posts. You only get permabanned for posting illegal things like CP.

It seems to me that most people who go on and on about freedom of speech just want to abuse that right to insult others. That was never the point of Freedom of Speech.

The point of freedom of speech is to speak freely without the threat of being silenced, these days you don't have to be belligerent just to get banned, you can just simply have a non-conforming opinion. Even then we shouldn't silence people just because someone else got offended by someone else's post. It's also not just on the internet, many western countries aren't really a place of free speech if you can arrested for posting edgy memes under "hate speech" laws.

4chan is compromised, the tip of the spear of internet free speech is now kiwifarms, they have gone to insane length to try to deplatform them, including just stealing their domain.

You can still express yourself, it's just harder. Hate speech is usually about slogans that leads towards violence and it is possible in cases like you mentioned, so it is important that your words are not used against you and this happens most times in sensitive topics.

Any sort of freedom has limits. This is what the law is about. The same applies to speech. There have to be limits. Laws if you will. This is to stop people insulting each other and or expressing opinions that are highly offensive or just downright lies or untruths.
I know it's very difficult to define those "laws" and for sure some places get it wrong, but I don't believe that's reason to just give up and allow anyone to say anything they please without consequence.
I forget who it was who said this about orange box speaking. Eventually, it just declines in to chaos if you don't have any rules.
