It hinges on the very idea there's a soul or spirit to reincarnate, but spares no thought for where that originated from.

All I know for certain is, I didn't exist before I was born. There was no learning, no awareness, no memory, just nothingness. I later learned the universe is billions of years old, so that's billions of years I didn't exist for. After I die, I won't exist again.

The stars will all die out, the conditions for life are no longer satisfied, and universe will inevitably suffer heat death. What is left to reincarnate?

I've read a "comic" (BD, "bande dessinée" pour les incultes) about scientists "understanding" that there is only ONE electron in the whole galaxy - and it just zaps and teleports where needed in atomic formations everytwhere at the same time.
So those geniuses conceive a plan to trap that single electron to power a trans-dimentionnal machine - to be able to see'n'walk in other universes. The plan horribly backfires when all of the creation is unmade at the same time, and the whole of humanity trapped in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ afterlife/purgatory/mind construt where evryone regenerates after death, leading to neverending faction wars and brutal, cyclical eternal torture of some poor sods.
BD are fun for every ages ! :) At least the range from 7 to 77 years !
