It is well known that men are overrepresented in leadership positions in any field, relative to their population in the general labor force of that field.
Leadership positions tend to be comprised of experienced people that are older, so some lag relative to advances in education in the younger generation of women and minorities can be expected, though even taking that into consideration the overrepresentation is still there.
Yes, when society traditionally raises girls to be more docile and family oriented than boys. And personal bias also play a role. Assertive boys/men are seen as leaders, while assertive girls/women are often seen as that b word.
Or they could just not be as good as males at a job. Ever think of that?
