Why don't I like sushi?
I want to like sushi so bad but I just don't, I went to a sushi place today with a friend and even just the smell of the place made me sick. I want to be a sushi person so bad, how can I make myself like it?

Maybe you just haven't found a sushi you like. There's lots of different kinds.

Start slow. Start with something "safe" like a California Roll. There's no actual fish in it. It's just rice, cooked crab (usually imitation), avocado, and cucumber wrapped in thin seaweed paper and sliced into small, bite-sized rolls. Get used to the idea of the general tastes and smells of seaweed paper first this way. Make sure you dip the bottom half in soy sauce. If something like this repulses you, then just walk away from sushi, it's not your thing and it's ok. If you enjoy the California Roll, slowly introduce cooked new types of sushi when you go out.

Next step might be a Philadelphia roll (an easy mode sushi roll), look it up for details. Then try a tempura dish (battered, cooked, typically has a sweet sauce). If all that is enjoyable, then you are ready to dive in with actual fish. Mild fish like Yellow Tail roll is a great introduction.

NEVER go balls to the wall with crazy shushi recipes if you are new to it as a cuisine. It's not about being brave or daring, it's about the experience. It should be enjoyable. I love sushi. My dad was the bravado sort and introduced me to some nasty stuff my first time. Years later a gf reintroduced me to sushi like described above. I love all sorts of actual sushi now, and have for years.

Hmm, I'm not sure if its true, but sometimes it is suggested that when fish smells excessively "fishy", it's often because it's spoilt[trishdeseine.com]. Fresh cuts of fish do not really seem to have much of a smell to me, so I am inclined to believe it, although it is possible that I am just insensitive to it. The sheer volume of fish processed in a Sushi restaurant may also have a cumulative effect. More fish obvviously means more fishy smell, even if they haven't been dead for very long.

Either way, my suggestion would be to grab a sushi platter from a grocery store. Maybe go relatively early in the day too. I have seen at least one supermarket where they have the A.F.C. sushi chefs present behind the counter to prep. the platters in the morning.

However, maybe now is a bad time to be eating sushi. The occurrence of herring worm found in sushi has increased by nearly 300 fold in the past 40 years[www.washington.edu], as of 2020. It's suggestive of something being wrong in the fish handling process.
It`s perfectly normal to not like raw fish. Just because some people do it doesn`t mean that everyone need to do it.
Toughen up.

It depends on what exactly you don't like.

You were a fish in your past life, you have to undergo past life regression to resolve all the residual karma from that life.
Good sushi isn't cheap, it's not everyday food. The taste of sushi depends on the freshness of the fish, the fresher the better. Fresh salmon is very tender and melts in your mouth with cream cheese.
Personally, I like sushi just as much as an original Italian pizza. But I mainly eat local home cooking. I just don't like everything mixed up randomly.
Just dunk it in the soysauce
