Is it me or has Bill Maher become more conservative and cliche lately?
I swear, if the guy isn't constantly and incessantly complaining about "wokeness", then he's complaining about young people and using typical right-wing talking points in order to push his narrative, despite the fact that his show is SUPPOSED to be about calling out both sides. Sure, his "Politically Incorrect" show was cancelled back in 2002, but his current show "Real Time" has been going strong for 20+ years, so his little diatribe against "wokeness" comes off hollow and shallow since he hasn't been cancelled himself, and his "examples" of "wokeness" include the worst parts of Twitter and TikTok.

I mean, who gives a ♥♥♥♥ what a bunch of idiots say on Twitter and TikTok?! I've watched now comedians like Jon Stewart, John Oliver, and even Jimmy Dore. While I'm sure they themselves also have their own shortcomings, they at least are well aware that they're comedians and that their shows are mostly about COMEDY. I can only count on hand the number of times Bill has actually made me laugh lately, which means he's become a terrible comedian, which is ironic, because that's exactly what you're NOT supposed to do when your whole show and shtick is about comedy.

If anything, I would think as a comedian, he'd be MORE fair and considerate to his guests, since his opinion is supposed to be more neutral and less important than what his guests have to say. The recent segment with Jon Stewart and his two guests on the Israel-Palestine war was more funny and fair than whatever and whenever Bill has anyone one talking about the war. It's funny, but it seems like age has made Jon Stewart more wise and reasonable, while Bill Maher has become more bitter, annoying, "old man yelling at clouds", and full of himself.

I dare say he's become the antithesis of that which he always criticizes. Namely, people who are so rich they are now out of touch with the average man and even their own audience, that they believe their own hype and censor/shut down any opinions they disagree with. I'd dare say it's been a while since any of Bill's guests have been able to push back on his opinion/point of view without him either cutting them off or verbally shutting them down.

I believe you mean that he's become the epitome?

You know what makes me aaaaangry? The fact that I was planning on purchasing Spec Ops: The Line at GOG, DRM-free, just waiting for another sale, only to check on it the day before and find out they pulled it from the stores.

This angers me.

Yes, thank you. I meant to use antithesis in the sense he's now the antithesis of what he used to be. So if being fair and unbiased was his shtick, he's now the opposite of that.

Bill Maher is an old leftoid revolutionary who sometimes gets mad the revolution starts eating away at something he cares about. He's an old phone that can't get the next iOS update because his hardware doesn't support it.
oh hes one of those people..

If you think bill is a right winger then you need to admit so are Democrats. The guy is a DNC shill with TDS. Just watch his last episode from Friday.

He understands that men are men. I know that makes a lot of people mad, but that certainly doesn't make someone a right winger.

He is an out of touch rich guy that is why he laughs off crime like it doesn't happen.

i'm being honest here, if i ever heard the word "conservative" in my life, i know it wouldn't end well. even the literal meaning of it gets twisted over time.

It's you. The political landscape has changed.

Concepts like "freedom of speech" and "equality" used to be a liberal position. Now people call it a "right-wing talking point".

He goes weeks without mentioning it.

Which he does. With a heavy focus on Republicans. You clearly aren't a regular viewer.

I don't know about Jimmy Dore. (and I don't have time to look them up.) I can speak about the other two.

Jon Stewart tanked his 'The Problem with' show. By getting way too political. By getting angry at the audience for laughing at his joke. By putting the message ahead of the fun. No one wants to watch a weekly show in which they get lectured in how they aren't doing enough for people that suffer. That just sucks.

John Oliver literally does nothing but talk about left-wing views. Literally nothing else. 99% of his shows present Republicans as villains and Democrats as heroes.

I think he is fair and considerate. His opinion is not neutral. It comes from the perspective of an old-school liberal. And he's made no effort to hide that.

It was 20 minutes of 3 people mostly agreeing on everything. None of which are authorities or in a position to change anything.

Bill is reasonably consistent about his viewpoints. He's grown, and it's evolved a bit. But his show has always been about being able to interrupt others. It's something a lot of shows just don't do. They'll cut off your mic. His shows allow for heated argument.

lmao, good lord...

You know you've gone full left Borg drone when even Bill Maher of all people sounds conservative to you.

I have actually watched his show numerous times. It's exactly why I was put off on wanting to continue watching it. There's no denying that he changed. Whether his political views changed or not is irrelevant. He stopped looking at things from a working class perspective and started acting more like a rich person who can't get with the times and can only complain about "wokeness" and espouse certain right wing talking points. So he's become more of a neoliberal if anything.

And yes, while "cancel culture" has always been one of the things he's consistently criticized, he has also been guilty of unintentionally supporting it, whether he knows it or not. So he's also a hypocrite to boot. Point is, his jokes lately more often than not miss the mark and he takes himself to seriously. If you're a comedian, you should at least at MINIMUM be funny. Jon Stewart and John Oliver might be mostly liberal, but at least their skits are funny. They're also mostly satire and don't claim to be a shows about political debate. Maher"s ego becomes insufferable at times, that you stop caring about anything else he has to say. You can be right about something, but still be an obnoxious and insufferable jackass that people will still ignore.

Why would I still watch mainstream media? Its all Propaganda.

It was never more clear that its government propaganda than when trump was president and every last talk show host talked about him non-stop in a negative light, then during covid trying to get everyone to do what the government wants and get the shot and social distance, and right now with Israel, try to make up all these "crimes of atrocity", and try to cancel Tucker carlson for the simple crime of wanting to hear putin's side, and on and on and on.

These are not things a free society does. A free society is told the truth and can speak the truth, and not be canceled for wrong think.
