Nintendo suing Yuzu (Creator of Nintendo Switch Emu)
Apparently, the creators of Yuzu are being sued by Nintendo for circumventing encryption keys for Nintendo Switch games.

From what I heard Yuzu is being sued over claims they are using illegally obtained encryption keys to make the emulator work which if true would be an open and shut case for nintendo.
Yea, if that's the case then it's Yuzu that was overstepping. They have to keep everything completely separated if that don't want the soap slapped out of their hands.
From what I heard, they dont distribute the keys per say, but they tell users how they can get their games off a Switch... which involves getting the encryption keys from the device because there is literally no other way to do it. This is the video I watched on the topic:

That is the primary reason they emulate. If we're going to pretend emulation isn't the single greatest tool for piracy, then we're simply not being honest. And in some cases, like games that are prohibitively unavailable because nobody makes them available elsewhere, I'm not necessarily opposed to it. Especially as the real hardware begins to die off rapidly like NES consoles are. But that isn't the case here, is it?
Okay then why don't ban computers as well, since it's a tool for piracy?

Especially since computers can be used to pirate modern PC games as well, and is not that hard to do. We can also ban PC's, Mobile phones, maybe even web browser themselves, because you can pirate TV shows, movies, music, comic books and manga, audio books, any picture or video on the internet.

Awful argument.

It's not. And you're using a strawman to try to make a less valid point seem to be more valid. Few people buy PCs to pirate. Virtually nobody who has downloaded Yuzu has stuck to only playing games they own. Almost nobody using SNES9X didn't download a full SNES ROM pack, same with NES emulators. You can make the argument "it's about preservation" all you want but are you going to sit here and say you've never once downloaded and played a game you didn't own? And that emulators didn't make it possible for you to do so?

Clearly, you can't even be honest with yourself, and are emotionally driven to defend Yuzu despite the reality of what it is, and always has been.

And what percentage of the people pirating Switch games today are doing so via emulation as opposed to hacked hardware? Also more than half. So it's completely disingenuous to say it's not a tool that aids piracy.
Do you work for Nintendo? You sound like you do.

By stating the obvious, and not sticking my head into the sand and pretending the truth is something more convenient for me, that means I must work for Nintendo? How do you ever expect to convince people that there are good points to emulation, if you're going to pretend it's primary use isn't for piracy?

Then turn off your computer, it's a tool for piracy. Please do.

Again, you're using a strawman. Computers aren't built to pirate video games, Yuzu was. The developers absolutely know and expect people to use it for that purpose.

It sounds like you got the same information Nintendo used to get for their one million download comment on their lawsuit.

Do you know Nintendo pirated their own games in order to sell it back to people using the very same sites that I'm not going to share for safety reasons?

So how can you play games you already own, that you can extract from the game console you own, by using a program that isn't even Yuzu?

Please stop talking about things you don't understand.

I thought it was made for emulation. I didn't know pirates like Blackbeard were behind it! THOSE SCURVY DOGS!

You're now trying to make the claim Nintendo pirates their own property? You do understand what piracy is, right? Be honest, do you use Yuzu to play stuff you don't legally own?

They do, look it up. Because I'm not sharing, and they are not the only company to do so.

Again stop talking about things you very clearly do not understand.

Basically a bunch of people who don't want to pay for games and think Nintendo is just pure evil for not giving them everything they want for free are complaining that a tool they used to do it anyway might be getting shut down, so they're making some very far-fetched excuses to defend it instead of having the integrity to admit they pirate games. They're not trying to convince me it's not wrong. They're trying to convince themselves that it's not.

But what about retroarch and all that?

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1118310/RetroArch/

That's emulation right on steam.

Be honest, are you on Nintendo's payroll?
