Nintendo suing Yuzu (Creator of Nintendo Switch Emu)
Apparently, the creators of Yuzu are being sued by Nintendo for circumventing encryption keys for Nintendo Switch games.

From what I heard Yuzu is being sued over claims they are using illegally obtained encryption keys to make the emulator work which if true would be an open and shut case for nintendo.
Yea, if that's the case then it's Yuzu that was overstepping. They have to keep everything completely separated if that don't want the soap slapped out of their hands.
From what I heard, they dont distribute the keys per say, but they tell users how they can get their games off a Switch... which involves getting the encryption keys from the device because there is literally no other way to do it. This is the video I watched on the topic:

Don't know and don't care.

More than half or less?
Don't know. Don't care.
I hope Nintendo gets the shaft. Emulation is important for preservation. Would be a tragedy if companies started shutting down emulation projects left and right.

Don't know. Don't care.

And what percentage of the people pirating Switch games today are doing so via emulation as opposed to hacked hardware? Also more than half. So it's completely disingenuous to say it's not a tool that aids piracy.

Really? Of all the people playing games via emulation, be honest, what percentage of them has never download and played a game they didn't own?
Don't know and don't care.

Well, if you don't know you can simply start asking.

Ok.

Explain how an emulator that requires a person to dump their own product keys and bios from their console before it plays anything is "aiding in piracy".

Explain how a team who literally refused to update anything to allow a leaked copy of a game to be played is "aiding in piracy".

Explain how an emulator that literally does not have the function to bypass copyright protection is "aiding in piracy".

I'll wait.

You know it doesn't require that.

I would wager a guess that the people claiming it's not used for piracy, or claiming emulation for a console that is still current is needed for "preservation purposes" are actively using it for piracy themselves and just can't admit to themselves that it is.

It doesn't require a person to dump a damn thing. The product keys and bios are easily found online and they know it. Yuzu just doesn't provide it upfront because they know if they did they'd have zero chance of winning a lawsuit against Nintendo. It's called covering their own asses through plausible deniability.

It literally does.

Download the emulator and try to start it without the bios and product keys. You'll get an error and it won't start anything.

Thank you for admitting it doesn't aid in piracy since the team literally supplies nothing that allows pirated content.

Do you not understand what the term "aid" means? You ain't pirating Switch games on your PC without it.

Well, you must think that people don't know how to use Google to find what they need? Or any other search engine.

I do.

They literally don't because of what I just explained and how the emulator works.

By the logic you are saying, CD companies aid in music piracy since they advertise their CDs can store music.

Yeah, playing dumb isn't going to save Yuzu, they're probably screwed at this point.

Does that suddenly change the requirement to supply your own bios and product keys? Or does that suddenly change what I said about Yuzu not supplying those and requiring them to run?
