I didn't say everyone in the world steals Nintendo's stuff. I said Yuzu is primarily used by people who do. Most people still just buy their games on Switch.

It won't be around forever, sure. But it's around right now. It's current right now. That argument could be made later but right now, nobody is downloading Yuzu and game files to preserve anything. It's not going to be a defense for Yuzu. I'd be surprised if Yuzu devs even take it to court. They don't really earn any income from it and wouldn't be able to afford the legal fees required to go toe to toe with Nintendo. I doubt the devs are going to risk their lives being financially ruined over something they don't even earn income on.

I wasnt talking about downloading game files. I was talking about the emulator itself and using legally obtained copies to run the game. The preservation aspect is about creating your own private backups from those legally obtained copies. As I see it, piracy is a different topic, one which I dont know much about anymore because I stopped when Steam became more convenient and now I like giving devs my money (unless I dont like the company, in which case I dont play their games) and I have become too paranoid about malware to engage in it... so I will just have to take your word for it that Yuzu is used by pirates. Either way, I still think they are separate things.

I hope they do have the money to fight Nintendo, because if Nintendo wins, other companies will follow. Its not a good precedent.

Well, that's why Nintendo may not offer an out of court agreement. If they do, other people might thing "well we'll just continue making this software until a court says we can't." If Nintendo thinks it has a solid case, they may just destroy the Yuzu devs so that the Ryujinx and Cemu devs pay attention.

I've told you like 15 times piracy is illegal and emulation is for preservation. Show me the facts otherwise. Just because you think everyone in the world is Blackbeard the pirate doesn't make that a fact.

From what I understand, as long as they dont include encryption keys, they are absolutely fine with continuing working on the emulator. The grey area that Nintendo intend to abuse was that they mentioned how to dump the encryption keys from a Switch (which is required to be able to run the games).

And yes, I consider it abuse because as long as you dont distribute they keys and keep them private, I dont think you have done anything morally wrong. But thats because I am biased, I care more about games then soulless corporations.
