IOU nuclear warhead - Ivan
Being nuked is a very real possibility, VERY REAL, but by someone who doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about dying.
He does care. He nukes, we nuke, everyone and everything is gone. He doesn't want that. He wants to control people, not piles of ash.
None of us can do anything about it, so why bother? But hypothetically if Russia were to fire their nukes at America, both sides would be devastated. Our missile defense system would only be able to intercept a handful of Russia nukes. Russia has supersonic missiles we could no way intercept. They also have nukes within other missiles. Meaning that when a Russian missile is fired it breaks apart and 3 other missiles depart from that single missile. Also, they have many non nuke missiles, and so we would be falsely intercepting non nukes, while the actual nukes slipped thru and struck land. Its like, if Russia fired off 300 nukes at NYC, we wouldn't be able to hit the 300. We would intercept maybe a handful, and the rest would devastate NYC and the surrounding areas.
BTW, America has the same advantage. We may even be more advanced technology but in the end both countries would pay a dearly cost. The world would pay a dearly cost. Billions of lives wiped off the face of the planet. The clouds from h nukes would create a winter like we've never experienced. It would be like when the asteroid crashed on planet earth and wiped out the dinosaurs, It would be like that. Catastrophic! Its not the initial impact, but the after effect.

Russia then poured vast resources into modernizing its nuclear weapons arsenal, leading to the development of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RS-28_Sarmat

It was designed specifically to overcome NATO anti-ICBM defenses.
To imply that Russia has no credible nuclear threat to fall back on is
Yea. If ya gonna do it. DO IT! I like a good fireworks show.
Won't have to go to work the next day, so that is a win in my book.
