It'll be one less unfunny brain rot cespool to deal with. However, the government's excuse to ban it is weak. Every other social media platform, website, etc takes information from the people. What once China does it it's now an issue?

It's like telling Americans to stop eating candy because it's made somewhere else and not because of it's potential health issues.

Short term band aid fix to a bigger problem, since the other social media corporations are still attempting to mimic / directly copy Tik Tok algorithm ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

First of all there is no evidence that Tik Tok is a security problem. This is nonsense, Tik Tok is the cat app where people post their funny cats.

But even if we agree that Tik Tok is a security issue, like OP said, that would be the least of your seciruty concerns because your browser is a muich bigger spy than you think.

We all know this is about money. Tik Tok is Chinese and money, ads, business, flows to China. That it is all about folks.

Every single modern app the average person would use is collecting every single data point on them possible. The only thing that makes tiktok different is that it's owned by a Chinese company

People say you can't ask for a tiktok ban if you use other social media. Well I don't know anyone who uses facebook anymore and I don't use social media at all besides OT and the thousands of throw away reddit accounts that get banned for simply pointing out how racist AI is against Caucasians, so the tiktok ban will only provide more laughs

What infos Tiktok got ? Current location pretty much ? Facebook and google have much more troves of datas than tiktok ever could dream - but they are absolutely not concerned by this - why and how ? :)

The tiktok challenges are just challenges : nothing to do with the platform; bring down the platform and the users will migrate somewhere else and begin anew.

Korean company, Samsung was sued for using facial recognition technology on minors without their consent. Whenever the kid opened the gallery app Samsung immediately began gathering facial recognition data. You have to be pretty dense to not see the problem with giving an extremely repressive government unfettered access to your location, voice, face, password, email and device.

Can't cure America with a ban on Tik Tok or any other app. America has been going down for a very long time. I taught in South Korea for 115 years, and I can tell you first hand that we are so SCREWED. Most American children don't value education. Its why we have to look abroad when it comes to finding people to work in the fields of medicine, mathematics, science, Engineering and IT. Ask most young people who are attending college and they are partying all the time, or playing video games most of the time. Add in drinking and smoking weed. Ask what courses they are taking and its always some kind of liberal arts nonsense. I talk with teachers currently in the American school system and they all tell me its out of control. I'm generalizing here, but I do believe much of what I'm saying. Banning Tik Tok won't bring back America. People will find another app, etc.
