I haven't seen any hard usage stats recently, but all accounts say a very lopsided percentage of users are desperate men. Not enough women using it to be sustainable.

Facebook was trying to get advantage of dating but their project never really got wide endorsement. And the reason is simple. People like certain degree of anonymity when it comes to dating. For many many reasons, after all on Facebook you are open book and this can attract unwanted attention
