do you guys prefer modded or vanilla games?
vanilla means the original unaltered state. no mods, no edits etc

i hardly play vanilla. its so boring. mods just adds creativity and flavor. like nudes, weird costumes, skins, weapons lol etc :caster_happy::lunar2020gigglemonkey:

I prefer Vanilla. I can very rarely find a mod that wasn't broken, unbalanced, or just didn't fit aesthetically with the game in question.

really??? wat games u like for modding?

I've tried a few mods for Skyrim but didn't really like most of them.

There was a Khajiit overhaul in Skyrim that showed a Khajiit woman with huge bozongas. I tried it out and all my Khajiit were still flat. Found out they had a whole bunch of other mods installed to do that, and their mod basically did nothing.

That's the kind of crap I find in the mod community.

One of the most popular mods for Mount & Blade Warband is Prophecy of Pendor. They put a dude with full plate armor in the first quest and you can't beat him with your starting weapons. So you have to find gold to get a good weapon to beat the first quest. The comments in the mod are chock full of people being wiped out by huge armies of heretics - and yes I met a demon summoner army in my first few days of gameplay and they crushed my band of peasants.

99% of fan-made mods are just jank.

I like to try and play thru games un-modded first. Then if I want to re-play the game I usually Mod. it up.

A term that means uinmodded. No extra added flavors.

But vanilla is a flavor... Why is it called vanilla then?

Saying vanilla is a flavor i kind of like saying sweet is a flavor.

Vanilla is technically a flavoring, but it's also an ingredient added by default to many recipes so vanilla flavor ends up being the plainest and most basic flavor of such foods. This is especially true of ice-cream.

I always play vanilla, because it's the experience the devs intended. There are only two exceptions to this rule. The first is the game's stability. This is particularly prevalent with Bethesda games, where you most likely need the unofficial community patch to iron out the kinks. The second exception is for games like Gmod, Teardown, and BallisticNG where modding is integral to the core experience.

Modded Minecraft is the only way to play it. So many fun modpacks out there... Blightfall, Regrowth, Gregtech New Horizons, Create Above & Beyond, Nomifactory CEu, Project Ozone 2/3, Skyfactory 3/4, .. the list just goes on forever.

Factorio also has a lot of excellent mod expansions that completely change the experience. Krastorio, Space Exploration, Nullius, Pyanodons.

Sounds like a really boring way to play. I see you own Terraria; you've never tried out the offical Tmodloader with Calamity and Thorium, or even MagicStorage and such?

No because there's already too much to do in terraria

Mods can help with that. Get MagicStorage and once you get a few diamonds you never have to worry about dealing with multiple chests again.

Just because the devs designed something some way doesn't mean it's a good way to play.

I generally prefer vanilla.. and if a game is crap vanilla.. it is badly made..

that said I have been amodder for morrowind for over 2 decades and I quadrupled the installation size, number of quests, complexity etc in that game...

but basicly thats only cause oblivion ans skyrim just are dumbed down sucking games that only add things modders already had added in morrowind..

if they had released a game that was as good as morrowind.. with all that modded taken lessons from and added + a heck of a ton more I happely play vanilla..

Trying to figure out how that post is relevant to anything in this thread.

I usually play vanilla since I don't often have neither the time nor energy to mod games to my liking. That said, I do like to mod games here and there when the opportunity permits when I specifically like the idea of a particular mod. But that's pretty rare.

A guy mentioned the game and I was curious, can you answer the question, please?
