Marriage = overrated today
Finding a good man/woman is becoming increasingly difficult it seems. Also, if a divorce happens, you can lose quite a bit as a man.

Married people are much happier people, just a fact: https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/09/health/marriage-happiness-wellness/index.html#

Marriage isn't for everyone. Not everyone should get married, especially those who don't understand commitment and the requirement/responsibility to constantly work on the relationship vs merely enjoy it.

If you don't want to work on your relationship your entire life, put in the time/energy/resources/commitment it requires, then don't get married, you'll have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ marriage. Marriage is far more than just a certificate on paper or even love.
Feminism actively undermines relationships and marriage
Only for those who subscribe to the goofiness of modern feminism. Those who don't will generally value marriage. Solution is simple: don't be a goofy feminist and find someone who isn't a goofy feminist.

True.

Also, having kids.

Screw the "save biblical marriage/you're selfish for not giving us grandkids" loonies.

You gotta believe! Negativity won't get you very far! (It's also super unattractive!) :lilacstare:

Doesn't matter if you find a good one. Because divorce is such a good deal for the person that benefits and people change over time. Someone who's a great person at 20 can become angry and bitter by 40.

Me at 20 and me at 30 were way different.

Think about your dad or mother, you think they were the same person at 20 that they are now?

Life is all about change, it never ends, even your body changes all the time. Where earth itself in space is, changes all the time.

Pick the right one is a silly concept. The past wasn't pick the right one. It was to death do you part and make it work despite differences. And society reinforcing making it work, for the good of society. Strong families, strong societies, and social nets.

Life itself is overrated.

All I can say is that if the "AITA" threads on Reddit are any indication, people today do not know how to do "marriage."

Men/Women are unequal in most divorce proceedings, that's true in the US. (Women are generally heavily favored in contested divorce cases and there are statutes in many states that have some mandatory reward requirements that are probably outdated.)

Finding a good ____ ALL starts with one's selection process.

If one is looking for a good mate by only ever dating the people that are the last person at the bar when it closes... one is not going to be selecting from a good pool of potentially good candidates.

Commitment and responsibility are overrated. We should all have a bazillion partners whose names we don't remember.

we should just marry the first nice boat we find, and sink into the grave with it apropos of nothing.

No reason whatsoever to get married, it´s an old indoctrinated notion which has no essential meaning in a modern society. A waste of money just like Christmas and every event which only serves to enrich those already filthy rich.

When love blossoms it can lead to an extremely beautiful life, it doesn´t need to hold any of the ancient traditions other than true affection.

Boats are for suckers, riding on the back of a shark is where it's at. Sharks with lazer guns and turbo jets on the back. RelationSHIPS are for non-materialistic people who like spending their money on others.

Hey you guys, let's all join hands and move to a monastery. No sex for life!
