Holy sh**, Trump is BACK
He’s back on world news and overshadowing everyone.

This sounds familiar pre-2016 campaign.

I just know who’s going to be the next POTUS.

good... after how they oppressed him!

and only because he is trump and is a rich SOB was he able to defend himself BY LEGAL RIGHT IN A COURT OF LAW!

too bad people who aren't rich don't have the privilege of their legal rights...

How is this voting supposed to work if there are only two people, two parties, two realistic choices? This is madness, absurdity. I can't see myself taking part in such a futile existence. Just get it over with. It's some kind of alternate reality timeline where someone broke something and we just flopped out the gate. No shame in just taking the mulligan instead of doubling down on a slump.

idk how this actually works in america not being american... but last time I questioned an american friend about it they admitted that similar to in canada there are in fact more than 2 parties; just everyone considers voting for them a waste so never does... and then there's some other convoluted layer that weeds them out or something and you jsut vote on the final 2 idiots?

I assume the "other convoluted layer" is the electoral college, who's votes are the ones that actually matter, as they ultimately decide the president, not the popular vote (and they don't even have to vote for whoever wins the popular in their state,, in fact five presidents lost the popular vote but won the election, which makes one wonder why trump was so dedicated to winning it... But w/e).

It is convoluted, yes, but it's how it is for the presidential election... For good or bad.

no, I mean the "pre-election w.e" where they screen out all the other people you might have voted for... which from what I understand you actually did have to opportunity to vote for but chose not to.

the popular vote is a whole other can of worms that makes slightly more sense...

The ballot choices (minus the write in) are chosen by each state's political parties' conventions.

But again, like you said, you can always just write in, and honestly there's been no need for a third party option since Ralph Nader did his streak of campaigning, and even he didn't ever do that well...

actually, can't you literally write anyones name on the ballet?

like in america it's perfectly fine to vote for literally anyone... just no one else will?

so saying that there aren't options is highly disingenuous...

Correct, I have written in Optimus Prime as pres and Bumblebee vice pres of the Autobot Party in at least 2 elections. My father at one point voted for Mickey Mouse and Donald duck, so yeah...

It's generally considered a "throw away" vote and seen as either an act of protest or a waste of a good vote depending on who you talk to.

ya, so saying there aren't other options is kinda just not true...

you know most countries don't allow that right? like if you don't vote correctly for one of the pre-determined candidates you're vote is actually discarded?

like that's why people who are actually aware of how it works don't take americans seriously... because you do in fact have the right to vote for whoever the heck you want but choose not to then have the gull to complain that you "couldn't".

He's getting massive funding from Leonard Leo (aka the Court Whisperer) to do so via Project 2025...

So criminal cases, but being delayed and ignored. It seem some Americans also have short term memories which completely forgot about history.

I mean, if you could actually convince enough people, sure, it's theoretically possible that "anyone can be president" so yeah, you do... Technically have choices. But 99% of the time your vote might as well have just been discarded tbh...

Even when Ralph Nader was campaigning for the Green Party, he never got over about 3% of the popular vote, and he probably did the best of any third party candidate in modern history...

you're exceptions and caveats are just excusing the fact that the claims made are untrue tho?

Oh, the claims are absolutely untrue, I'm just trying to illustrate why some people make those claims.

Well, other than the people who legitimately think there are no other choices available at all, but they are just morons.

What're you talking about? I don't think he ever left the media's attention, did he?

Definitely not for any significant duration. Even after he was out of office there was talk about the Janurary 6th riiots, his third impeachment trial, Musk unbanning him from twitter, how his supporters booed him off stage for endorsing the vaccine, et cetera. Maybe there was a bit more focus on Elon Musk after that for a while, but certainly not for long enough to be surprised that he is relevant again.
