they are seeking the loss on purpose for business reasons, and they keep doing it because they fundamentally oppose the issues woke represents.

this creates the association between these ideals and unprofitability, artifically.

this is the intent behind woke as a movement in the first place, and why the CIA decided against its use in the 70s and early 80s. it only undermined the causes they were trying to support, and in so doing undermined the wellbeing of the american public.
