It's identity politics.
Identity politics divides us.
Boundaries are constantly being crossed. And normalized. When will the next line be crossed?
In BG3, if you create a dude and bring along dudes, all your dudes will be gay and will try to romance you. 100% of the time.
it reinforces existing divisions and creates new ones, ideally a new division for every person who exists.
it also gives voice to people who were unfairly incorporated into the whole and then silenced.
Not necessarily.
It divides only if you're somebody that really cares about this stuff and even then it depends on how important that stuff is to you.
Most of the stuff that is being raged so hard against in threads like this one is ultimately about stuff that hardly affect the gameplay, if at all.
Elden Ring plays the same whether you decide to play as a male or female character.
Starfield likewise plays the same no matter what pronouns you decided your character to use during character creation.
Cyberpunk 2077 does too.
So ultimately it depends on you.
You must decide how important identity politics are to you and whether the character creator of a game asking you what pronouns you would like your character to use is something worth getting upset over.
there are no genders in elden ring that i know of, the closest you get is bodytype A or bodytype B
not really.
1.) you are not forced to engage in the romance, you can always decide to opt out.
2.) all the dude guys behave the exact same way if you had created a girl. its not that all the guys are gay, its that the game simply doesn't care about your characters gender and its giving you the option regardless. whether you want to engage with it or not is still your decision to make.
3.) same sex romances in RPG's aren't a new thing. you could have same sex romances in Dragon Age Origins which is a 15 year old game by now. as a matter of fact, all of the Dragon Age games up until this point had same sex romance options. The same is true for Mass Effect. And for Skyrim too which also allowed same sex romances.
same sex romance options in RPG's have been around for over a decade at this point and if you didn't want to engage in them, you didn't had to.
it was never a problem before so why is it a problem now?
because some people decided to make it an issue for no reason
and the gameplay remains the exact same regardless on whether you selected bodytype A or bodytype B during character creation.
it has no effect or impact on how Elden Ring plays.
that can't happen unless they first create sweet baby, popularisze the form, then destroy sb to make room for others.
Yes. Which is why a forum where everyone makes sure you know about his per.versions and eco-status and feelings about capitalism and ritchwitemen is just like playing a modern AAA game.
Story?
Yeah, how do you know someone is a vegan? Cuz they tell you in the first two minutes...
It's cancel culture too. It's identity politics coupled with cancel culture. Divide and cancel.
Not a fan of censorship. Let every hobbit have their say I say.
Do you think it would have been better if Sweet Baby Inc silenced the group? I wouldn't even be here.
