Why did the Vikings go extinct and die out?
Never understood what happened to them.

We know that the Mayas went extinct and that the Egyptians went extinct after they finished building the pyramids, but why the f*** did the vikings go extinct??

Fran Tarkenton retired.
So, here's a wiki about the Norse at the height of their power:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Sea_Empire

What happened is that the Norse who colonized the UK eventually assimilated into the local population while christianity was introduced into Scandinavia under Harald Bluetooth.

Viking culture is raiding culture. Raiding 'wyk's, streams/rivers. Scandinavian culture never died out. Wyking/viking falls under lawlessness under modern national systems, the raids involved attacking, pillaging and murder. So they were probably forced to reconsider their way of life (under threat, ofc)

Until Christianity spread across the Nordic countries and raiders threw down their weapons, stopped believing in old myths and started coming together to create new nations under one god.
They didn't go extinct.

They incorporated into other cultures.
They did not go extinct, but rather the feudalism allowed the land to become more fortified, which reduced the viable targets.
So, what happened to the vikings? They run Maersk now.
castles everywhere, less plunder, guess ill fish from my longboat

The last High King of Ireland Brian Boru got sick of hearing reports that the Norsemen had raided another village, so he sent forth his hand selected cadre of monk bodyguards to China to learn alchemy how to turn earth into fire (explosives) and the art of Kung Fu.

Upon their return the Norsemen had now grown complacent and expected another walk over but they didn't know that the monks had also went back to the secrets of the ancient ones the original builders and architects of the dolemns and burial chambers in Ireland circa 3200 BC. With that knowledge they built spires or 'round towers' much the same as you see dotted around Ireland to this day. however they weren't places of refuge to secrete the holy books and golden chalices they were in fact sentinels much like in the game Rage 2.

Needless to say the Norsemen fled for their lives and never returned until much later but they had become Christians and vegetarian. 1000 years later Abba won the eurovision song contest but Ireland still has the record for the most wins. Beat that nordics!

Thnx.
I didnt pay attention in history class (I have a lot to learn) I guess
My fault, had to handle sum business
Doubt they went extinct. More than likely, they were absorbed over centuries and the idea of being a Viking was lost to time.
