People like to have the newest thing. I never buy games Day 1. I wait until it's $30 or less. 99% of games are not worth the $70 price tag.
2) I tend to play my games again at a later time, so I've no interest in subscription/streaming/etc services vs buying.
Moreover, if you are the competitive sort, you might want a copy of the game A.S.A.P. for practice or to try and set some sort of world record speed-run before somebody else has the chance to beat you to it.
Also, some people do not mind overpaying to try and help nudge the industry in the direction they would like it to go in the future, by contributing to a higher sales total. If money talks, then paying $70 says more than paying $50.
It might help you understand better if you try to stop thinking of games as being "full price" and start thinking of them as if they have a 0% discount, with a 0% discount being the discount threshold at which these people are willing to buy.
i dont know if you have this already but if you dont- have a look into R-type dimensions Ex, its a decent challenge.
there are certain games i will pay full price for ,and have paid in full for quite a few.
like when FORZA horizon 4, and then 5 both came out, i paid for them in full and also bought FH5 at full price for someone who really deserved a copy.
i just like driving round the maps, especialy the UK one in no.4 as some of it is recogniseable if you happen to live or know the areas. it helped me get used to playing online without having to chat directly to people which i really struggle with, its also helped me keeping sane as im unable to go out without support staff who can drive my motability car (all but 2/3 can drive) so its very useful to have a big game like FH5 to drive round,i find it very calming until you get people trying to show off or flying past you in the sky, clearly cheating ,i just want to chill and drive.
i paid full price for STRAY,because even though it was indie,it was more than worth it and it goes to help developers get better and more experienced at the job.
Plus to most western people that is, a full price game costs less than a day's wage.
