Scared of refunding / Refund policy
Steam has warned me that I'm returning too many games. They say that I'm buying the games because I want to see if I like to play them (Which I don't) Should I take this serious? Aren't we always supposed to get a refund and get our money back for whatever reason?

Yes, you should take it seriously. Stop refunding so much. Steam has the right to refuse refunding you if they feel like you're refunding too frequently and it looks like you're abusing the system to demo games or anything like that.

Why did you buy 22 games then?

I mean I can imagine like buying a game and not liking it but 22 times?

Regardless, I see more pondering in your question than I could give you a straight answer, but if I could give you a tip it would be learn what you like. Don't expand beyond that if you are feeling uncomfortable.

Steam is a digital storefront, I always separated that with the other, namely the physical things because physical things they can re-sell. Digital is kind of strange because it's in that "non-real" domain.

IF anyone's curious I am pondering, why is Steam allowing for refunds (considering they didn't in the past and that all kind of went well, no one complained until someone started to and that sort of multiplied or expanded)

They always had refunds AFAIK, it just wasn't always clearly stated that they did which is something that they lost a court case in Australia over. And they likely have refunds in order to comply with local laws in various countries they operate in since in some places have consumer rights laws to guarantee that sort of thing.

All digital systems have a social credit score, eventually amazon will ban people who abuse their system, no doubt the same for steam.

During what timespan? Asking because I know others who have gotten this warning before
Timespan was 8 refunds in 2 months (Because of controller support issues)

Next time check pcgamingwiki for support issues before buying a game, its not hard.

Also with steam big picture controller support is incredible now, I don't know how you have a problem.

Buy a standard xbox controller.

Maybe use google beforehand? Worst they can do is deny your refund request, otherwise you can recite their policy back to them and tell them to deal with it.

It happened back when Playstation 4 controllers wasn't really a thing in steam yet. Many games didn't support the controller at all. Some of the did support it but still didn't work properly. It was hard to tell how the controller would work before buying the game.
I think I understand you somewhat but at the same time, there are on the Steam store page icons that say if a game supports many things, among which also are controllers and also if you can't play with a playstation controller, why not just buy a cheap controller for PC?

Yeah and that's a good thing, that we have laws protecting us but again...

Steam seems a bit like an outlier in all of this in terms of, even having lost a case, there might not be laws made for services like Steam or they aren't updated and if they are updated and not made, maybe they are updated hastily not to like also keep Steam's or Valve's interest at heart like...

Protecting us from shady companies and new (shady) companies that maybe want to sell us something okay I can kind of understand but Steam or Valve's been around and I do NOT necessarily see them as being shady.

Also I want to say my opinion on that Australian ruling but it would just contain a certain amount of hearts so... I'll abstain. I would ideally have to research it but my feeling tells me something wasn't right about that ruling...
I did not know you could see if the game had controller support. Since when did they put that information there? Maybe it wasn't even there in the early stages?

I'm not gonna play with other controllers.. We all have our favorite controllers :-) PS4 controller is the only one I can hold for hours without getting any strains in my hands.

I've done it a 2-5 times after the warning. The only difference is that I'm writing a long detailed explanation about why I'm refunding it, and I try to come up with something new every time. I usually make up something about how it runs poorly on my PC. Nothing has happened, so I guess nothing will happen if I don't do it too much.
I refunded 23 games since January 2022 and have never seen that message.

Are you not keeping 'any' of the games you purchase?
I kept 1/4 games when I got the warning. So that might be the reason why I got a warning and you didn't :-D

Sure, I hear you.

Here is the reference, I can't put a picture of it but if you word search on a game's page you might see this:

Full Controller Support
Xbox Controllers
DualSense Controllers

Other than that I don't know man. Buying a controller that's like 10 or 15 €, seems a lot easier than refunding a bunch of games if I was to be honest, unless you got like some problems with your hands. There are controllers that resemble PS controllers I would think...

Also, I'd only refund a game if it literally was unplayable and mostly due to technical issues on my system, but okay to each their own.

aand, you can watch reviews of games on youtubes if you like want to make sure if it's good, just saying.

It happened back when people would install third party software to use their playstation controller on pc. Third party software was ahead of steam back then. I think the software was called DS4 windows.

I thought it was easier to just buy the games and see how it went back then. Today, I will check/research everything BEFORE buying the game.

I have never bought a game before watching gameplay on youtube. If I was still uncertain, I would go to Steam and read good reviews and bad reviews. I have only refunded games because of technical issues :-)

22 refunds.. lol

I only refunded 3 - one was flat out 4 which was just disappointing as a long fan of the franchise - wreckfest was so much better
The other one was road redemption - didn't like the gameplay
And the last one was city car driving (which I bought as a gift) - because recipient's computer didn't support the game.

You shouldn't really refund games unless they really disappoint you or just have technical problems imo.

In the future try curating what to buy better.

Unlike you, I will check out the game beforehand to see if I like it or not. I have never bought a game I didn't like to play which also means that I've never refunded a game because I didn't like it. The only reason I didn't check for controller support was because I didn't know better and because it was easier to just refund it if it had poor controller support.

Its not comfortable, you play too much and have borderline carpel tunnel.

How do you know if it's not comfortable to me????? I can play for 8 hours with the PS4 controller and my hands will be perfectly fine. With other controllers I can only play 1-2 hours and my hands will start hurting.
