What is your opinion on YouTube disabling " dislikes "?

I think the purpose of being able to hit like and dislike is somewhat dismissed if one is not able to see the dislikes on videos.


Also, what is your opinion on some channels, especially larger news agencies, disabling the comment function overall ?

I don't want to get started about the whole " freedom of speech " discussion as YouTube is a private company and each channel owner can of course make this decision very individually.
HOWEVER, for me its kind of an indication of " bad practice " if one disables the comment function completely as well as YouTube disabling " dislikes " completely.

What is so bad about people seeing how often a video was dislike in order to compare it with the likes ?

It has made no difference to me. There is no impact I have witnessed so it seems an acceptable update.

But having a like and comment function also has no impact on you, but might gives you the chance to say something when you want to as well as see dislikes and maybe not watch a video or waste time on it based on this.

It has made youtube worse. The youtube algorithm is a sinister threat to every free thinking person on this planet. I have right clicked "do not recommend channel" several times since the dislikes were disabled. Youtube trying to push out of touch goblin no life streamers in their algo — disgusting.

Sorry cant mention it by name. The more its mentioned online, the harder youtube will crack down on it.

A google search can give plenty of options though.

Larger news agencies block comments because they know they're pedaling bullcrap and don't like to be easily exposed for doing so in the comments. And dislikes are still there. Those same networks tend to get WAY more thumbs down than up, likely why the feature is blocked for most users.

Don't care about dislikes being removed, but the fact that they removed only dislikes and kept likes is some babified snowflake bs. Take all criticism or none at all.

There was never a time I used the dislike button. If I didn't like something I clicked off the video.
