It's basically Pokemon if Nintendo might have tried to evolve the formula they've been using since 1996.

Someone was bound to come along and do it for them.

I wouldn't say basically, yeah the pals and catching mechanics are similar but most of the gameplay is very Conan Exiles. Also, if you compare the technology points menu to Ark's they are very similar as well but it's not the first to do this. Palworld seems to be a stitching together of things that are popular in other games and it just works.

Based on what I've seen, it's Pokemon with guns and a bunch of other mechanics mashed together that actually looks kinda fun. I'll wait until it's out of early access to give it a go.

No real coincidence that a lot of the pals look ripped right out of Pokemon and slightly altered. Wonder if that'll be enough to avoid the ass pounding Nintendo's lawyers love to give people.

That's the interesting and exciting part.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I wonder why developers and publishers don't take a really successful single player game and just build on it over a few years instead of spending hundreds of millions on a new iteration that might not be as well received as before.

I mean, it worked with No Man's Sky.

Be me.

Spent 2 hours setting up a base with multiple pals.
Setup food system : To seed, water, and harvest.
Setup delivery : To carry fruit into basket for pals to share
Setup resource gather system : To get lumber, ore
Setup beds and spa to prevent pals from getting tired and sick.
Total 2 hours payload : 12 ore and base got destroyed by intruders

If I were to mine it myself : 20 ore in few seconds

Omg my house and pal sleeping quarters got totally wrecked by a raid of 3 very hungry relaxaurus that were all level 30. Didn't even have a pal that was level 20 yet. Didn't have stone walls and stuff unlocked yet either.
Built back better and with more defense and some good guard pals.

It's funny watching them lose their minds over a game that looks to be better than Pokemon that is very similar in concept to Pokemon.
