Gender neutral pronouns list to stay up to date in 2024
Upon first meeting someone, most people agree it’s best not to outright ask for pronouns because someone may feel like you’re assuming their gender identity. In some cases, it may put someone in a situation where they have to out themselves but don’t want to or aren’t ready to.

Instead, introduce yourself with your pronouns: "Hi, I'm Caroline, and my pronouns are she/her." With this, you're allowing the other person to share theirs, but not forcing them to

People might use multiple pronouns, like she/they or they/hirs. If someone shares that with you, they might also say they’re more comfortable with one over the other, or they’d like you to vary the pronouns you use in conversation.

They/them/theirs
Ze/hir/hirs
Xe/xem/xyrs
Ver/vir/vis
Te/tem/ter
E/em/eirs

Examples - Ze/hir/hirs
Where did ze go?”
“This pencil belongs to hir.”
“Ze would rather do it hirself.

Examples -Xe/xem/xyrs

“I think xe is nice.”
“Tell xem I say hello.”
“That sandwich is xirs.”

Example - Ver/vir/vis
“I think ver is nice.”
“I borrowed vis pencil.”
“I went to the store with vir

Example -Te/tem/ter
Te went to the store.”
“I borrowed it from tem.”
“That’s ter dog.”

Example - Ey/em/eir
Ey wrote me a note.”
“That belongs to em.”
“I asked to borrow eir pencil

If you have beard = He/him.
If you have boobs = she/her

Period
What if I have both?

Then you are confusing people and you are liable for getting misgendered ( which is actually no one should be offended about). In my language we don't even have pronouns.
I will introduce myself with my fist in there face

I have a problem with using pluralistic pronouns in place of he/she, and I will never get used to it. It doesn't make grammatical sense. This mangles the English language.

It makes written correspondence unbearable.

Surely there's a better alternative than "they/them" that's inclusive of non binary etc people?

For the record I suppose referring to people by their chosen pronouns so long as they make grammatical sense and don't conflict with fundamental rules of grammar.

Oh god who could've thought we'd be living in such an era. Acting like toddlers as adults.

A class of gender that's neither male nor female.

okay but why can't you just ask, or at least see what the other person tells you

Because I only recognize two genders, as nature intended, I don't play make believe.

And this is why the pro-Russia sentiment grows.

I feel sorry for the people 1000 years from now, they are probably gonna have a whole book of pronouns to study :biohazard:

Nah, it hasn't and won't gain traction with the vast majority of speakers.

Hermaphrodites exist in nature.

As far as I'm aware there has not existed a true human hermaphrodite, i.e a person with both male and female reproductive organs who can impregnate a woman and also give birth.

That said, there has existed throughout human history people who have reproductive organs of one gender but also have some some bits of the other gender at birth. They used to be called hermaphrodites but this isn't an accurate term for the reasons mentioned above, therefore intersex is the more accurate term. Traditionally, surgery at birth has been carried out to remove these bits and enforce the predominant gender but studies have shown that this causes psychological problems in adulthood.

So there does exist in nature humans who have been born with intersex traits. It is rare, but more common than being born a red head.

I mean... this doesn't make it a new sex it just mean you're both sexes to some degree, but you get the point, sex and hormones is a complicated matter that we may not still grasp fully.
