Watching Disney crashing in slow motion while everyone is laughing at them, is the best entertainment it produced in 10 years.
At this point Disney is just making movies and shows for tax writeoff, like Steven Seagal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out his 50th ♥♥♥♥ movie made in Romania, so whoever funds his crap can launder some money.
Also, I dunno, seems like Wish flopped even harder for the Little Mermaid, so perhaps Disney has little choice but to stay going down the current course of live action remakes with racially swapped characters. It does not matter if it is bringing in the profits of their glory days if it is the best they can even manage anymore.
Also, again, I don't know anything about casting, makeup and all that stuff that goes into making a character. At the time, if someone said "hey, they casted Kevin Sorbo as Hercules", I'd be "Kevin what?" just the same. While, years later, it was like "WTF? Hercules commanding a starship?"
Just wait and see. Disney probably has a lot more casting experience than the Steam forums.
I don't care how bad Disney today is, the new Hercules cannot be worse than their first one.
Eeh, Schwartzenegger's highly successful and prolific film career began with Hercules in New York. I never seen it, and I'm not confident that it was a good film with a title like that or even that Schwartz did a good job of it since it was his very first film but you can't say Scwartz didn't have the body for it back in the day at least.
Also, it seems as if Reg. Park was a mentor to Schwartz as a bodybuilder, so you could say the mantle was passed on from one actor to the next.
I also have distinct memories of watching Kevin Sorbo play the role. I didn't particularly like Xena: The Warrior Princess or Hercules: The Legendary Journies, but the dude is pretty iconic. More important than any of that is that you can't cast a dead man. Reg. died in 2007. Even Schwartz is a bit too old for the role now.
But really, Hercules is one of those roles that practically every strongman needs to play at least once in their filmography.
I dunno man. Looks to me as if all of the swaps are of white characters for black characters, and they could've used Dwayne the Rock Johnson as a racial diversity casting, considering that Pacific Islanders have scant little representation on-screen.
And look, I get it, Dwayne's working on the Moana remake right now, but it's a little too soon for a Moana remake, isn't it? It also suggests they were able to come to agreeable terms to contract him.
Perhaps they do not want him on for legal or marketing reasons, since he also played Hercules in 2014 for Paramount, or maybe Dwayne doesn't want to start as the Zero?
Just kinda seems like a shame. Dwayne definitely has the voice of a Disney singer since, well, he successfully played the role of a Disney singer in one of Disney's last few good movies. I feel like Dwayne Johnson could've been a pretty good win/win for everybody here.
Especially if they made it part of a two movie deal, have him start on Hercules, give it a little breathing time, then have him do the Moana remake so it's not so close to the original movie's release.
I liked a lot Xena warrior princess, but didn't like Hercules legendary journeys at all, it was a boring, watered down tcv show... I know it came out earlier than Xena, but to me it always felt like a very watered down version of Xena... and Kevin Sorbo imo was very boring as Hercules.
I think that Bruce Campbell would have been fantastic in this role. He was wonderful as Autolycus and he could have been a wonderful Hercules as well, I'm still sad that they never tried something like that and give him the main role.
Maybe as Hercules he needed to be a bit more muscular (not necessarily, but itr would have been a nice plus) but actors do this kind of things quite often, so I don't think it would have been impossible... I think that an Hercules tv show a bit more wild than the one we have (on par with Xena) nd with Bruce Campbell as the main character would have been absolutey fantastic!!
Kevin Sorbo Hercules is rather boring imo. I can see why some younger people consider him iconic, but for sure I don't. Lucy Lawless as Xewna is iconic for me too, Kevin Sorbo? Not that much.
WHO
IN

keeps watching all these live action remakes? You would think nobody would have gone to see the last eighty or so of them and they would STOP MAKING THEM.
