How is it possible to get the wet smell out of shoes?
I was walking like 20 blocks in the snow to get to work a couple months back and they got this nasty wet smell on em. Been a couple months and I still haven't found a good solution to help fix this.

This shoe just smells funky and wet from the rain. Any idea how to fix this one too?

I'm hesitating the option of putting them in the washer because I remember putting a pair of DCs in the washer and letting them dry in the sun, they ended up keeping the same old wet smell.

Blah Blah Blah... Spray it with a fabric refresher, cram a couple fabric softeners, Toss them in a pillowcase, stuff it with towels. dry them twice. Enjoy flowery smelling shoes.

Unless you bought cheap shoes. Then enjoy the individual base components of your shoes.

If it's so bad you can't stand it/won't wear them and nothing is working, it's time to buy another pair of shoes ... and don't wear them in the snow without something over them. Or wear boots. :P

I would soak/rinse in a baking soda solution and then machine-wash them (remove laces, use a netted bag) - if your dryer has an air-only type setting, you can toss them in there for a while. I think that's faster than air-drying the whole way. I've machine-dried on very low heat before, as well, until half-dry, before air-drying the rest of the way - seemed fine to me, for sneakers. But I'm not terribly picky in that regard so YMMV.

If they have removable insoles (many do, even if they're in there very snugly), remove those first and wash those by hand separately.

but if the smell won't go off, every cloth you throw in your washer/dryer will now smell. ;)

They sell little things you put in your shoe that are meant for that. They take the moisture out.
Theyre like 5 dollars, too.

If you dont wanna buy one then just put your shoes in the washer. I would recommend not putting soap in (Might ruin them) and setting it to a low setting.
Then take it out, and either set it in sunlight or by a fireplace.

Cedar chips work wonders on lots of smells. Of course everyone will think you're wearing that douchey old spice body lotion.
