Anyone else hate windows 10????
So I wont to know, DOES ANYONE ELSE HATE WINDOWS 10, because I feel so alone in the fact that Im the only person out of my friends and everyone else who seems to hate windows 10, its NOT the revival of Windows, here are a lot of problems: 1. the theme looks so bland it could even be a theme for windows 98 if you took away the animations 2. old games dont run on it, securom, directx and direct3d are not bundled and dont seem to work with it, I had to mess with it for a couple of days before they worked. 3. some old games just dont launch at all when clicked (18 WoS PTTM, Convoy and others)

Anyways you tell me your opinions on Win 10

the games running is not the issue I just don't like the interface, I like the classic start menu not one that looks like a Mobile OS
It doesn't have that stupid mobile OS start menu as win8 (it can) but doesn't. duh! It is just like the old start menu just with a few tiles. Means it doesn't use the whole screen. While i hated the start menu from win8 i does actually like the win10 startmenu. You may find it usefull when you get to know it.

i dont want win 10 because it spies on you. my win 7 doesnt because i disabled updates and i dont need them becase i have other security in place. also with dx 12 being the only thing that i might use and no games i want that use it, there is no reason to upgrade. im hoping by the time i want to use dx 12 there will be a way around all their spyware.

Wow the "spy" crap again... That stuff is more for help you and give you comercials that fits to you. It is to let the system know you and what you do and like. You can easily turn it of and i dont really care. It has not changed my life more than that i'm getting ads on certain websites more suited for me (will adblock has removed most of them now). Cortana also nees it to get to know you so she can help you as much as she can. One of my friends has it on and doesn't even care because he can use cortana (she is awesome for what he showed me)
You might just be paranoid. Afraid some nerds on microsoft will watch everything you do?

Also lol google, apple, facebook and lots of other companies has allready "spied" for years. Nothing new.

True there is no other reason to upgrade other than getting dx12 and that win10 does indeed run faster. Most of my games are running faster than they did in win7. because win10 runs faster (it is smoother). But sure. You can nicely stay on win7 until it gets abondoned like win vista, xp and older where you are in high risk of getting hacked and virus and all that.

Yup, Win7 will be supported until 2020. Hopefully there will be something better than Win10 by that time.

sorry to dissapoint you but windows10 will stay for years. They have themselves told that win10 is made more like IOS to be updated in a long run instead of making completely new windows versions all the time. And i got nothing against win10. So far it has been the best thing i have done to my computer since i upgraded the GPU last time.

Zef, don't waste your brain power trying to explain it. I'd hazard a guess, based on their 'spying on you' and 'spyware' comment that they're most likely a bandwagon conspiracy theorist (like they all are).

The second we were born our information has been 'spied' on, anything you pay bill wise? Linked to you. Qualifications? Linked to you. Past/current job(s)? Linked to you. Your credit card? Linked to you. Your router? Linked to you. Your email address? Linked to you (no ♥♥♥♥) Vehicle documents? Linked to you. Medical issues? Linked to you. Passport? Linked to you. Fingerprints? linked to you and most likely already documented somewhere.

Literally everything there is to know about anyone is already known so those that are pissing themselves about their 'privacy and security being compromised' need to wake up (how ironic lmao) and realize we're not in the stone age - your details are already known well before Win10.

Oh, I'm aware of Microsoft's plans to go to a subscription model for the OS and that Win10 will be around beyond the 2020 EOL for Win7. That wasn't what I meant by "something better". Because that money-grab scheme is not "better". :steamfacepalm:

Thanks for letting me know. There is even provement of this "spying" even on windows7. You need to go to isolated island with no internet to be safe (or might not, probes in sky also watching you :P)

As fast you just type something or use google or anything you gets "spied on" Everyone using gmail will most certainly have their phone location tracked at all times. Everytime you say something to SIRI on iphone the message you say will be stored back at apple. Cortana and windows10 is more like it. The services that is "spying" on you is actually there to serve you. It will try to understand you to help you.

In the future i bet your whole home (smart homes) will be like the same. There allready is homes like that which register movements and controlls lights, music and everything which sends wireless data to a center. It can be usefull to turn lights on/off automatically or to see when people have been in your home.

if you read the eula there is a provision that says in essence that microsoft can turn you over to the authorities if they look trough your stuff and find something maybe illegal. imo that stuff if anyone were to have any is none of anyones business. i also hate the idea if giving them complete control of hardware that I paid for to microsoft by way of forced driver and software updates.

That wont work out well. It will force people to get linux if they dont want to subscribe so windows may loose if they do it.

then even i will move to linux (and loose the ability to play half of my games) lol.

I will pay because i want to be able to play may games properly. Linux sucks enough in my opinion to let me pay. But it counts how expensive it will be and that but i dont think it will happend. They have been clear that people who upgraded will have it free forever. If not they might just get lots of companies against itself (think about all offices and that who would need to subscribe). It may just ruin them in the long run.

This is why MS has private support of XP still ongoing. Many very large companies are not interested in paying to upgrade tens of thousands of computers every couple of years when MS decides to change it all around again.

Of course securom isn't bundled with Windows, why would it be? It never has been (unless part of specific OEM deal)

DirectX which comprised the original DirectDraw as wqell as Direct3D engine architectures is included with Windows 10 and in fact, cannot be removed.

If you have issue with earlier dfirectX version requirements, you can install the 9.0c compatitibility updates and/or run product in compatibility mode.

If SecuROM is not functioning, did you upgrade to Windows 10 from an earlier version of windows? If so, was there a SecuROM protected game installed already? You will need to uninstall and reinstall this product, since the registration for SecuROM is protected.

Overall, Windows 10 is incredibly compatible, provided the software was written according to standards.

Incidentally, I dislike Windows 10 immensely. Windows XP was far more versatile, but I need post Windows 7 windows for work and it's a little better than 8 / 8.1
If only they could have redesigned from scratch (pproperly, not just bolted on over the old) Windows with an XP user-experience, but with the UEFI, security features, managed caps etc.

"redesigned from scratch"

Oh yes that is definitly what we need i can see the head lines of rage articles now

"Decades of work and windows experience wasted as microsoft moves to reworked operating system"

"Developers are having a ♥♥♥♥ fest over microsoft desiction to dump all of there old work and experince"

Well a re work would be great and would untimatly benefit the users developers that have been using the win32 API for literally decades would be upset and would probaly quit programming for good with such a move. People would move away from windows in droves becuase all of the developers would be working with linux since it stayed more or les the same and there is still documentation and information they can use to develop that is relevant.
