Then why hate him? He does the same work so many do. He, honestly, works harder than most do. Yet so many hate him, and the only reason is... he is successful.

One of the reasons people hate Poods is bc he receives $$$$ just by doing videos. Even our professor told us about it.

Damn, Pewdiepie looks older than the last time I saw him.

I prefer his older videos but I prefer to watch other YouTubers that has way better content such as reviewing (Cinemassacre, Caddicarus, JonTron), animations (Piemations, Bitter Strike!) or you know, anything that is worth to watch (I HATE EVERYTHING, Channel Awesome, CinemaSins, GradeAUnderA, DidYouKnowGaming?).
I just hate his fanbase, that's all.

I don't hate him. His content doesn't appeal to me. I have tried to watch a few of his videos and they annoyed. I do not hate him for that. That's the sort of content he makes and some people enjoy. What annoys me and quite a few others is a certain part of his fanbase, probably a vocal minority, who can't seem to grasp that I don't want to watch a man scream into a microphone. That is not how I wish to spend my personnel time.

That fact doesn't make my choice of entertainment wrong. Telling me the stuff I like is rubbish and somehow inferior to Pewdiepie isn't going to change my opinion, But more importantly the thing that part of the fanbase needs to grasp is it doesn't make them wrong either. If they like Pewdiepie and I don't it doesn't make them in wrong to watch his content. They are not under attack from me I don't think they stupid or immature for enjoying it.

I think that issue stems out of what his main target demographic is. Teenagers. I may be completely wrong here but teenagers are programmed to fit in by any means necessary. If I'm not consuming the things they are then something is either wrong with them or me is more often than not the view point this vocal minority seems to take. It happens with other channels that have that demographic you only need to take a quick glance at certain parts of the yogscast community to see it.

While his "over-the-top goofball-edness" might be endearing to some to a lot of other people it's just seen as fake and patronizing.

Also, believe it or not a lot of people don't think his reviews are really genuine because he gets paid for them.

And here's a quote from PDP himself, which pretty much illustrates that fact:

Then there's his fanbase, now I don't mean just regular people who enjoy his videos but I mean the CANCEROUS "fanboi" fans. God forbid, if anyone has so much as any tiny, tidbit of constructive criticism or even a "but..." you will have an army of rabid 9 year olds leaping down your throat and downvoting anything you have ever posted on Youtube. It isn't entirely his fault because when you have such a large following, it's not like you can actually stop large segments of them from being complete ***holes but then again when you cater to a lot of those people...well...

Then there's the bandwagoneers, who try to copy everything he does. One PDP is enough. Be original and make your own ♥♥♥♥ up. Just because screaming at the camera and yelling about forcible fornication (the word is censored on the forums) works for one guy doesn't mean it's going to work for you or that anyone wants to see another one. The PDP army will pretty much brigade anyone who tries to be PDP though...and then they'll brigade people just for not being PDP.

So those are some reasons why perhaps there are people who "hate" him. Anything or anyone that is really popular is always going to have detractors or simply people who don't enjoy it. Being popular doesn't automatically equal good.

Some people enjoy his asinine antics. Personally, I'm in the ambivalent camp. I watched some of his videos. They really weren't for me so I don't watch his videos. Maybe once in a while, I'll see one of his videos and watch it for a few seconds and then I'll immediately remember why I don't like them. But do I hate him? No.
