Why are people rude on the internet? (for school project, reuploaded)

So for a school project i am meant to write a research paper on a topic i'm interested in. For me, i chose Cyberbullying/Discrimination in the Gaming Community. I'm not 100% sure on what i'm going to talk about with that topic, but i have a few ideas. So i wanted to ask all the Haters, the trolls, just the community in general, If you act like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ online, why? what makes you think it's ok to post this type of "content" online? You can discuss on this forum all you want, give your input and hell, even argue, i just want to know why you think it's ok, if you think it's ok that is.

Isn't calling out back seat moderation as a no-no, also backseat moderation? I would call certain someones out on it, but I am not a mod, and usually drive.

Do you consider not following a community's rules and guidelines rude? If so, why would you do so anyway? Do you feel like the community's rules don't apply to you?

Well i wasn't given a reason why it was locked, i want to know why, i don't really care if it gets locked again, i just want to know why it was locked in the first place

Yet, you don't really answer the question about being rude by not following a community's rules. That's what I was getting at. I don't care if you want to know why a thread was locked, that's nowhere in my questions. It's that you're not following a community's rules, and thereby being rude, because you want to find out why your thread was locked? That justifies rudeness? Because it's something you want?

I wasn't backseat moderating, though. I was posting the discussion rules as a reference point and then asking questions germane to his "rudeness on the internet" position in direct relation. I noticed that you cut the context out of the post, how rude.

Personally, I do enjoy pissing people off on one game. Why? Because they're often a bunch of 12- it seems, so it's funny to stir them up. And then they curse at me because they think it's grown up, as well as type in all caps.

I usually don't start insulting someone unless they start it. I don't think I ever get really mad on there though, unlike some people. It's just a stupid game, no need to get so mad.

Anyways, so that's why. I'm not at all like that irl or pretty much anywhere else, I just like to have fun. :P
