In this video where the specs are like yours, but in Windows, the user is barely getting any frames at those settings.
It really is a fun game, but you won't be able to fully enjoy it with low frames like that. I suggest that you consider upgrading or to build a new PC all together if you don't wish to play with 20+ FPS.

take Space Engineers off your list. After the planets update even my PC struggles and mine is 'more PC' than average.
This one looks promising.

then Wurm.
technically its been out for a long time. he is just using the Early Access platform to release to steam is all. He is new to the Steam ecosystem
Having said that, when you say 'die' what specifically do you mean? low player count or when you hit play it doesnt work.
Secondly, does it even matter what status a game is in? if its fun....full stop its done.
That said, I do understand some concerns like Repopulation as a perfect example, that is a good example of an alpha game that went to what I would consider an actual death in that when you hit play you cant play the game and will not be able to for at least a year.
On the other hand a game like 'blockscape' I can still play. its just that the developer stopped working on it but that doesnt affect me because I bought it for that snap shot in time anyway
that game is super fun. I think I have around 600 hours in it. I think the only game I have played more hours on would be Wurm (hours not recorded because I played 2 years before he released on Steam)
