Will Medal of Honor: Allied Assault work on Windows 10?
I was cleaning out the drawers in my office and I found the CDs for the game, expansion packs and all. My PC is on windows 10 now though and Im not sure if the thing will even work since it's such an old game. But if anyone has a clear answer or fixes I want to hear them.

Also, Magua, you mentioned on your new laptop about not seeing any specific ".exe" files although you had found one noted as an application file?

Generally speaking ".exe" files are application files, one and the same.
The application file you noted was likely the actual ".exe" you were looking for.

Here is why I say this.
In Windows 10, I noticed that by default, the folder explorer does not actually list file extensions.
Examples being ".exe" for an application or ".txt" for a basic windows notepad text file.

If you want to change this setting so that you can see these hidden file extensions:

First go to your File Explorer - either like from the start menu, or say My Computer - My Documents.
There are options in the top left of the window.

They should say:

File - Home - Share - View.

Left click on View.

Over on the right of the new view options available - are three small vertically arranged tick boxes.

The middle one should be labelled as "File Name Extensions".

If you tick this box, you should in future be able to see the full name of a file, including its extensions such as ".exe" or ".txt"

Hope that solves part of a mystery for you.

Thanks, Iron Phoenix, for all the tremendous tips!

Went to gog.com and purchased MOH Allied Assault War Chest and it works just fine on my new desktop in Windows 10. In fact, I could play the main game and both expansion packs without a hitch. Great price too at $9.99 for the digital download considering the original price (in 2002) for the MOH Allied Assault CD was $29.99 and each subsequent expansion pack CD, $19.99 for a total of $69.97, retail!

The best part is that I don't have to insert the original MOHAA game (disc 1) to play each game. And if the graphics aren't as hot as today's games so what! As far as I'm concerned, this is still a vintage FPS bar none. It also completes my 'older' games collection. I love the historic newsreels, sound track, and story line as well.

For anyone who trashed this series for not measuring up to present-day standards, for a media that's nearly 18 years old, they missed the point. These games are far more informative and enjoyable than the 'sci-fi tripe' that is now being peddled and copied, by every software company, ad nauseam :)

Result !

Glad it worked out for you Magua.
Its one of the classics of that era for sure and just as enjoyable today.

There are a lot of nice touches in the game but I love the sound too?
Especially the M1 Garand rifle when it ejects the spent case with that "Piing" effect...

Ahhh I can hear it now lol.
And in a way, that you sometimes need to empty the last few bullets out to ensure you have a full clip for what ever comes your way next.

Sometimes it reminds me of the film Saving Private Ryan in places, or vice versa.
I would heartily recommend that if you don't already know it.

:)
