What is with this stupid apotheosis going on about Gabe Newell? There was this gaben meme spawned from the depths of hell, it died off for a second in 2014 and now it is back, stronger than ever.

Honestly, do people still find this funny, and if so, then WHY?!

If you're seeing people making these memes again that answers part of your question. As for the other part well, I don't know why: but I could say the same for people who laugh at others after they've injure themselves by mistake.

People don't find it funny. It's just that everyone can understand the "joke", despite it not being funny. In some cases this kind of "joke" is better than a refined joke on a topic the other person might have no clue about
