It's probably not a bad deal. But I'd test it first. Use scented gas or for a cheaper method, potpurri the hell out of a small, mostly airtight room. Don and clear. If you smell something, it's broken or you're wearing it wrong. And of course, if you use a gas like propane, don't blow yourself up.

Then it's probably bad. THey have to be vaccuum-sealed. Pop that seal and you've got about a month of typical use.

Yes, the second the cannister is free from a vaccuum it begins filtering air, the carbon in it bonding with free atoms and molecules of pretty much every type.. Eventually it just doesn't filter anything any more. Or it gets clogged with dust.
