People assume tigers because of their reputation, claws, teeth, speed.

But a gorilla is frighteningly powerful and are under rated in how much damage they can do in a fight, I would put my money on a gorilla breaking a tiger in half before the tiger can deliver a fatal bite.

That's because you saw Human Vs Gorilla. A tiger would easily take down a stupid gorilla if it has to- they are hunters!

If they are within the same weight category then I would go with gorilla if it’s a pitch battle. Besides... tigers usually attack their prey by surprise.

Tigers would have to attack the neck to make a killing blow. With gorilla I don’t think he would let the tiger even get to his neck unless it was a sneak attack. Gorilla would tired the tiger out and keep him at arms reach.

They're ambush predators, they only pick targets they consider weaker than themselves. And only if it looks like it'll be an easy kill.

Because they're fragile, take a lot of energy to run, and can't eat plant matter for sustenance.

If they waste energy on a meal that gets away they might start going into a starvation spiral where they get slower and weaker over time and get fewer and fewer options to pick their targets.

Big part of why they're solitary animals, as food scarcity could easily end an entire pack and even a single instance of infighting could lead to a puncture wound that ends in a fatal infection for both sides.

The same is basically true of the gorilla. Even if it isn't fatal, a torn ligament or mauled appendage could significantly lower their social status, leading to fewer mating opportunities and less food. Or, in times of scarcity, no food.

It's inane for either of them to fight in the first place.

Let's look at some facts here.

Silver back gorilla's
They can lift 1800 pounds
They can knock down and tear apart a banana tree with their bare hands
They can bend iron bars. They are known of escaping from an iron cage just by bending the bars.
The punch force of a gorilla is estimated to be between 1300 pounds and 2700 pounds.
Their bite strength is 1300 PSI (Pounds per square inch) stronger then a great white shark which has only a 525 PSI and a lion which only has 650 PSI.
They can throw with a force of 900 pounds.

Tigers
They have a bite force of 1050 PSI
4 inch razor sharp claws that can shred flesh
The swipe force is 1400 PSI.
They can run up to 40 MPH

I would say the gorilla would win. Cause it would be hard for a lion to get a bit on the gorilla's neck since it's small and has a ton of muscles around it. Yea the lion might get a few good swipes in on the gorilla but if the gorilla can get a bite in the lion is done for.
