Hardly ever use voice chat. How do you deal with social anxiety?
Call me a ♥♥♥♥♥, but I'm too anxious to use voice chat. I really want to, but before I can I usually just quit the server out of fear. I've got no problem talking to strangers in real life, I just struggle with communicating online. Does anyone else ever feel like this?

Maybe you don't like your own voice? did you ever ask someone to record your voice and play it back to you?

Depending on the game and its community, I wouldn't even bother with voice comms. If you ever do give it a go, don't let toxic people get to you (especially British ones, we have no limit apparently)

I don't. I've been voice chatting online forever so It's nothing for me. But I can understand it feeling strange since the person isn't there to pick up on visual cues etc. I guess just practice with people you trust first.

Irl you have a lot of help, which are: sound of the place you are at, distractions such as what's going on, a goal, and your body language; When you are online voice chatting, the only thing remains is your voice!

And recorded (mic) voice can sound a bit unwell for some people but you can always use voice changer for extra security and comfort! (Don't adjust it to be creepy tho!)

If you've talked at length with a person over the phone, it's more or less the same concept with voice chat.

Nobody knows Wookie language anyway.

People tell me I have a rally nice voice, radio announcer quality, sexy, but I don't believe it and still don't like the sound of mine when I hear the playback. It's just odd compared from the inside of my hhead.

What matters is how it sounds like to others; We hear and see ourselves differently than others, for some reason.

a little at a time.

Start by literally just saying, "good luck have fun everyone!" and unplug your mic. There you go.

when people say "thanks you too!" or "how is everyone?" in response it's going to feel more and more NATURAL to respond - you don't have to right away. Just do it when you feel comfortable and want to.

Remember that you are essentially anonymous. If a conversation goes poorly you can mute and move on, or just not talk anymore. the great thing about working on your anxiety is there isn't too much consequence as your self esteem is already shattered :steamhappy:

Grow from there brother, good luck with your anxiety.

You have a problem and should try to find ways to fix it because it's bringing you down.

I mean, how can you speak with total strangers irl but get anxiety attack when using a mic on a game room? It sounds condescending but it's not. That's just the way I express myself. Get some help, dude.

Self-Image corruption ofc! In this case, self image about the voice.

I think he will be fine if didn't hurry to speak/respond with the mic. Speaking whenever you want and avoiding small talking for a while will help a lot.
