Why do people find enjoyment in torturing rats and hamsters?

I swear, tiktok for example is full of videos where people are purposely prodding hamsters in cages until they show annoyance or even corner them to get them to scream. All for views it seems, or for their personal pleasure...

For rats is even worse, especially on youtube with all those inhumane traps which are it seems designed to make the rats suffer as much as possible rather than giving them a quick death. Next thing is even more sick, one guy caught a rat in a cage then started to shake the cage violently to terrify the rat as much as he can. And don't even get me to start on the comments those videos get... BARELY any comment is against what those people are doing and they are instead encouraging it and writing their own stories on how they tortured rats. Someone wrote they ripped the rat's tail/teeth. Someone other wrote they lighted the rat on fire or that they cut his limbs

Why is it like this? This is just disturbing

You should report them for animal cruelty.

Usually they're just people who have no idea how to handle animals.
If they capture a rat in a cage, they should put a blanket over the cage. So that it cannot see anything. That way it won't have much stress, and then they can just take it somewhere, without traumatizing the animal.

My bro had a pet rat. And one day his gf got it a friend. And I think the story was, the female rat got with babies and they said the male suddenly died shortly after. Now he didn't want rat/mice babies. So my brother offered to give me the rat or rats.

But I said no. And later he told me he gave all the rats to a person that feeds them to crocodiles or snakes, or something.

And thats pretty much the extent of experiences with rats.


Hamsters were those things people put into balls and let them run around on the floor. Never had one of them myself either. Me, I just always had bunnies.

Bunnies are cute, and can stomp, and jump, and surprise you. And they can scream, but I only heard my pet ones scream once or twice. They basically never do it. But one time, one got out side and my bro grab it so hard that it did scream.
