Like there´s one pre-school here which wouldn´t want to have Christmas tree this year, but it still does all the other stuff. So everyone and their right wing mother came out of some corner, stating that the world has gone insane when none values the traditions any more, and some former minister stating, that if they don´t want to have a Christmas tree, they perhaps have to think about having it opened over the holidays. That is usually what Christianity here is about - and i´m sure i´ts not too different anywhere else, and there might be some exception, who just honestly believe in their faith - and don´t care much about other people and their faith
The Christians party here has a new party program, which says that Islam is also a part of Germany, if they respect traditional values. Why only Islam and Muslim people?
And to respond to it - it may be that the dominant religion there is Christian - not some other one. Nothing about being deeply ingrained, except they are victim of child abuse in some Church group as kid.

Honestly that person probably just doesn't like the change. Europe in general had been predominantly Christian for a very very very long time. Basically most of the duration where they were actually powerful civilizations, with the notable exception of Rome.
Also there's the fact that Secular governments have a TERRIBLE track record when it comes to human rights and mass murder. So I think many may have a deep-rooted fear about this; society as a whole losing their faith and morals in favor of worshiping the state instead.
True, nobody is forcing ME. However, in my conversations with co-workers over the years, I discovered that about 1/3 of them do not like Christmas, would rather not be bothered with it, but felt forced to participate by their families. So they are effectively being forced, when the only alternative is social stigmatizing by their own families.
But still nobody is forcing them. There is literally nothing stopping from them from ignoring Christmas to the chagrin of their families.
Or as the zoomers might say: Sounds like a skill issue.
I guess you think people being stigmatized by their families is funny. I think otherwise.
