nobody uses it but they need everyone to have it
You can get rid of it with an advanced uninstaller like Revo or BCU, but Windows will put it back with the next major update.
Of course, I only allow Windows to install updates once a quarter at most. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insubordinate scum.
Though, you can "disable" it.
CTRL + Shift + ESC
Autostart
Disable Edge
To be able to disable Edge you need to have run it for once. Disable it, after closing.
If you remove it and then you keep updating, Micro$oft will reinstall it. If you note what it stores, it's a big component of Micro$oft telemetry (seems like) and it caches user activity, along with other telemetry components I'm sure.
Micro$oft has embedded it in the OS in order to keep doing what they did against Netscape - Our <Insert Our Browser Flavor of the Year Here> is "an integral part of the OS and must be installed 'cause it's CRITRICAL OMGZ!!111!ONE"
Just follow this exactly, do not question it, if you have any problem then its your error, go back and follow EXACTLY!!
open "File Explorer" navigate to this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\101.0.1210.32\Installer
copy the complete navigation sequence through the Installer folder onto the win clipboard.
Type “command prompt” into the Windows search tool and select the item from the search results... be positive to pick the administrative rights option.
With the command prompt open, type or copy these commands, using "your version number" of course:
cd/
cd Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\101.0.1210.32\Installer
At the end of this sequence of commands, your command prompt should reside in the correct folder.
Now, press enter and command prompt will switch to Edge’s Installer folder.
Now type or copy / paste the following command:
setup.exe --uninstall --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall
exactly like that.
Press enter, and Edge will instantly be uninstalled from Windows 10 or 11 home & pro, without you needing to restart your PC.
Furthermore .. the only way it can ever be reinstalled will be by you personally granting administrative rights. MS can not do it on your behalf.
You're welcome my friend, have a Jolly-Jolly-Christmas
i feel better going into settings and reseting edge to factory default once in a while. and go into apps in setting, you can repair, microsoft edge, edge update, and runtime, which causes them all to reset and be redownloaded from microsoft. factory resetting things always makes me feel better.
in turn windows features on and off you can remove windows 11 from your system strangely enough, and microsoft explorer. one day maybe edge will be in there
currently edge users seeing duplicates of profiles being created in their edge browsers have been hacked. its new and not patched yet.
Did you know ? If I were just very smart, I would not boast?
I can sense your kind vegan heart, but I am a real actual vegan without a hypocritical bone in my soul. In addition, I'm also an ultrafit, wealthy, hot lesbian living in Tokyo, with an IQ of 165... literally
So, rather than imagine my perception and self awareness is lacking, please just watch this 20 second video. Imagine I am teaching you to move free, with some sweet small segment of my IQ.
You're welcome my friend, please enjoy your freedom, and laugh like its a burp
