It takes about 15 - 20 years to grow a full-sized food grade human. They need a huge amount of space, nutrition, expensive supplements, vaccines and medications.

It take a year to grow a flock of chickens and they barely need looking after.

Also, humans are riddled with parasites. You generally shouldn't eat predators unless they're really tasty like tuna.

to eat them they first-> a lot of dieases can be passed that way.

and how much less so would one kill them to eat them?

the ONLY reason people ate other people historicly basicly was for one of 2 reasons

1 superstision/agression
as part of a ritual where you believed to get power at the expense of somebody else
this clearly is very very evil motive and such societies were logically exterminated by all others.

2 hunger
-> this is the reason that is a bit more understandable but we see indeed that even starving peopple will spend energy burrying their dead, rather than eating them.
when eating the dead did happen it was usually non related groups like a ships crew or a group of travelers. soldiers tend to do this far less due the bond formed by standing together in the trenches.

when there is enough food, there is never a reason to eat humans.
-> they died usually of illness and thus are far to risky an eat.
-> and we don't want to murder anyone.
if there is a famine, we do see that the taboo ocattionally is broken.. but thats basicly the only case..

that was about two woman who during a famine came before their king to speak law.
-where one lady had cooked her son, to eat his flesh together.. under the agreement they together would eat the son of the other lady the next day.
-> but than that other lady not upheld that agreement, hence this woman who already sacrificed her son seeking council from the king.

the king did just send them away and tore his clothes..
basicly.. it was just another sign how deep and terrible the nation had sunken...

so.. nobody forced ppl to eat kids.
and it was a human king who was witness to it happening and he only had despair about the ordeal..

Simplistically because ignoring all the moral standpoints on it, cannibalism has been discovered to not help the human body, but actually inflict more damage then any other source of food possible because your ingesting substances that effectively have under gone years of alteration from their original product, in this case humans regardless if you grow in a forest or a city are effectively toxic (in the most literal sense here) to other humans, as most do not know that the human has a failsafe near death.

A lesser known part of the body works just like animals in the wild, upon being threatened to be eaten, the body releases 4 chemicals into the body that effectively neutralize any cells that contain protein or anything that would be usable, this is why when an animal kills a human, they often times will not finish eating them as the body has long ceased to provide anything worth actually eating thus they leave it behind.

Its not simplistically that its evil, there's frankly no point to even do it as the human body has evolved to the point that our own biological failsafes make it literally a pointless and actually more then dumb idea to consume flesh of fellow men, this is why also the entire claim of Wendigos exist, who are myths for all that its worth as yes, a year of consuming human flesh can indeed drive one to either feral behavior or even outright barbaric feral levels of behavior.

For starters, it's got that harrowing aspect of eating something that wasn't instinct-driven like other animals, and it once had a personality and intelligent feelings of its own.

Secondly, it's frowned upon because of society's social attitudes and the misconception that you'll get sick with Kuru regardless of not eating the brain. To what I understand, you'll likely only ever get Kuru through eating the human brain because it has a high concentration of prions (the only potential for such a disease to foster).
