I swear electric cars should fully replace petrol cars.
I swear electric cars should fully replace petrol cars. Now I know this isn't easily done.

But just for the sake of noise pollution.
I live right next to a road in a village, that for some reason is busier than the busiest road in a 200 000 population city.

If I imagine all of these cars would drive electric and make no noise at all, other than perhaps the wheels rolling on the concrete, then this place would be a charm.

Think about it. Its not only about nature and air pollution, but imagine the decrease in noise pollution. It would be a charm !!

Couple of problems with that.

1. The power grid isn't ready for all those charging stations.

2. Electric cars are technically more dangerous because they're silent (and a bigger fire hazard).

3. Air pollution won't be reduced when those old power plants have to produce more power to meet the increased demand.
replacing one evil with another.. ah
Do you know how dangerous and toxic lithium mining really is?
I hate electric cars. They're incredibly ugly.
I'm just certain that we will have to move away from combustion cars anyway.

Oil is non-renewable, and the estimates for how much crude oil we have left are not looking good. The best estimates are that our crude oil can last us till around the 2060s, and even before then, oil will get increasingly scarce, increasingly harder and more expensive to mine, and increasingly more expensive in general. If we don't have some widely adopted alternative to petrol (whether it be electric, hydrogen, vegetable oil or whatever) by around the 2040s, we could be in trouble.

Yeah. But I disagree about the being more dangerous, it isnt, especially not if these cars have mechanisms that stop them. Drivers still have to be careful.

In germany we have cars that look like any normal cars, even sports cars that are electric.
Ev will never replace petrol cars with that long recharge time
I can imagine an heavily handed government that mandates electric cars in cities over the population of 200 thousand for it's citizens. What I can't imagine is a government that is willing to spend the money for the infrastructure to make it possible.
We will not see a good solution arise from the current profit-driven market, because the cars in production now are designed to sell quickly, not to address safety/longevity/material issues.

Nobody's grid is ready for mass scale EV conversion either. And most countries still use energy tech from like 1950 so we need to build better quality output sources, too. :Curse_Gloomhaven:
Lol, enjoy blowing up into millions of pieces when you turn on the engine.
