Seems like an easy win ...
Because they are not libel for fraud due to fraudulent advertising.
Since they can claim complete innocence due to their ignorance of the fraud committed by a third party, they can... just... walk away with a pocket full of money.
There's so many rip-off schemes and lies/fraud on youtube ads. They probably nest those things within five different companies to the point where it'd be nearly impossible to prove they knew it was fraudulent advertising.
But, since they're Alphabet/Google, suing them is next to impossible. (fix't)
Hopefully the E.U. will; get around to making them straighten up. Sadly, they've already bought the U.S.
They probably are.
But you know how powerful Alphabet is?
And the authors of these fake ads are often anonymous.
You can't just be an anonymous advertiser on the largest platform in the world.
What the eff is going on in this country????
This was the problem when the original Google push-advertising rolled out and it was discovered that hackers could run javascript viruses through it... Instantly, Google ad pushes were flooded with bad actors/viruses/malware and Google could not use a simple filter for advertising partners due to so many layers of them. They could not control their own monster and it took years for them to put in minimal protections as every browser/OS scrambled to stem the flood.
I just freaked out a bit....thanks.
It really is almost time to "just embrace....."
Is not easy to stop that problem though, is kinda like cheating in videogames
Including posting ads of scams.
Well, to Alphabet, they are technically not anonymous. They are a matrjoschka of shell companies. That on its own isn't the issue; there are legitimate purposes for such constructs. The issue is that Alphabet doesn't appear to do a simple checkup on their business partners, despite having the resources and responsibilities to do so. It's their freedom of association to not accept business partners with opaque ownership structures, period.
But I guess it's just easier to take the dough and weasel your way out.
Could someone get someone on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PHONE!!!!!!
This was a real freaking ad on Youtube, I had to search up why the hell it was even a thing...turns out apparently Israel is funding Youtube to sponsor anti-Hamas ads on their platform, like wtf, should I now expect Russian ads supporting Putins deeds to show up when I'm trying to watch Drae's Teardown videos?
