Are robots and AI girlfriends good or bad?

It's not really a threat to something that is already declining.

It seems like a solution to modern circumstances and beliefs.

Having an AI girlfriend/robot is the same as being alone, but actually worse because it wouldn't be alive or have its own consciousness. You'd just have the illusion of it being alive. It wouldn't love you. You'd be having a fake relationship with something that doesn't really exist. At least being alone would mean living in reality. I recommend watching Blade Runner 2049. Illustrates this in such a bleak and disturbing way.

But even if it's fake, at least it's still something. I've felt loneliness in the past and it's not pleasant. I'd probably still choose the robot over feeling alone all the time.

At some point if a next industrial revolution happen the robots might also gonna replace a large portion of the labor workforce since they could potentially become much cheaper to operate by the hour then human workers.

So yeah , I also see the possibility of having A.I just provoke a large crash in human population since less humans will be required to do stuffs.

I guess if the person hated it, they could still find a relationship with a human. They would just have to turn the robot off.

Brain in a jar paradox. Prove to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that anyone other then me is sentient and isn't just performing an elaborate ruse to make me think they are real people.

Sentience requires things such as emotions (which require the body, not just the mind), creativity (which requires emotions), an awareness of mortality etc. That's why AI could never be sentient, you can't synthesise any of that.

Another positive thing about robots is they might cut down on the amount of sex workers or sex crimes in general.

Sentience requires things such as emotions (which require the body, not just the mind), creativity (which requires emotions), an awareness of mortality etc. That's why AI could never be sentient, you can't synthesise any of that.

I'm not asking if having a Human body is a prerequisite to sentience, I'm asking how you prove another Human is sentient in a way an AI couldn't trick someone into thinking they are.

Also there are people with less/more emotions then others and less/more awareness of their own mortality, saying those are prerequisites makes it sound like some people are more sentient then others.

If robots ever became proficient enough to replace us, a certain sector of society will no longer need the vast majority of humanity and work to get rid of us, the robot girl/boyfriend is a good place to start to get rid of the unwanted population.
