So yeah , I also see the possibility of having A.I just provoke a large crash in human population since less humans will be required to do stuffs.
But wouldn't it bother you that it feels nothing? That its "emotions" are all programmed. That anything it appears to "feel" is all fake? It's just a moving and talking doll. I think most people would grow to resent the thing. I know I would.
Sentience requires things such as emotions (which require the body, not just the mind), creativity (which requires emotions), an awareness of mortality etc. That's why AI could never be sentient, you can't synthesise any of that.
Also there are people with less/more emotions then others and less/more awareness of their own mortality, saying those are prerequisites makes it sound like some people are more sentient then others.
