Why people like to imitate the american accent?
Most of my friends that have better english than me speak in an very american way, I never heard british, austrilian, etc from them. And meanwhile me still speak like this: https://youtu.be/mo4ufPKTq0E?si=cS3dbAKUYo6YfF9w

I see what you mean, but I don't consider southern accents an accent because I don't think they're speaking english to begin with.
You've got a lot more than that. Minnesota, Indiana and New Hampshire all have pretty different accents also.
Yooper

And BTW, Ted Nugent, NOBODY from Michigan talks like that, so give it a rest.

I once read that all people in Korea pronounce L as R because the first person who ever taught English there had a speech impediment. Probably not true but that doesn't seem to make any difference these days.

Implying there's only one American accent, are yah?

There's definitely a dominant one. Dominant enough that a fairly large portion of Canadians use it too.
1. Because Americans see red when playing games against Europeans.
2. Some European accents make us sound dumb, i.e. like we're inbred.
Because American media is more prevelant than any other.

He just sits and listens to the people in the boxes, everything he hears, he absorbs and adopts it.

I guess the only American accent i would be interested in would be Appalachian.

Or Texas German. Känn ei so reinmoven, oder direkt ausse Welt rausmoven - egal.

:)

Edit - For performance purposes, it's about authenticity. For... like just the heck of it, it can be fun to imitate dialects/patois, either just for the sound of it or maybe to imply something.

"u wot, mate?" :)
