I'm kind of intrigued to hear how bad European or Asian attempts to mimic American accents are.

But I don't have the data to watch a video right now.

Anytime I've seen a TikTok or YouTube video of Europeans using American accents, they either go NYC, Texas, or sufer bro accent. I wanna hear some of that mid-west twang "Oh how ya doing there bud. It's awfully cold don't ya know!" kinda ♥♥♥♥.

Jason Isaac's is British and he did a passable southern accent while doing Star Trek Discovery.

movies mostly.

if the rest of the english sphere hadn't hamstrung all of their creative properties you'd hear more Whovian and trailer park boy accents

The American accent is most natural. The most prompted virtual accent was made up in the mid 1800s. There are also more native English speakers in the US than pretty much every where else combined. And many people practice new languages through watching and listening media in that language of which the US exports the most.

My brother has been living in China for several years, teaching English to the kids there.

I hope they're all coming away from it with Minnesota accents.

I have never tried to speak with an American accent, it would be a very bad version of Chinglish.

I see what you mean, but I don't consider southern accents an accent because I don't think they're speaking english to begin with.

Why do Americans pretend to be Japanese ? Weird? or totally makes sense ?

Perhaps when you answer this you will know something useful towards your own question.

Ponder away

You've got a lot more than that. Minnesota, Indiana and New Hampshire all have pretty different accents also.
