How does Wolfenstein 3d control badly? It does exactly what they intended, and it's super simple and basic. That and doom could not be more straightforward. Is it opposite day?
I think we might just have to agree to disagree. We have different views on what good controls are, based on the jester awards you gave me for daring to speak badly of RE 4.
I haven't played vanilla Doom in twenty something years, so I can't comment. But the last time I played vanilla Wolf 3D (no mods) it was horrible to point of being unplayable, and I grew up playing old games. Horrible hitboxes (for both enemies and you), no strafe, no crouch, no sprint, no stealth (which is a problem as everyone on the level immediately knows where you are). It sucks. Quake and HL rendered these games completely obsolete.
I guess you either like tank controls or you don't. They are unresponsive and don't feel like how a real human moves. I hate them, which is why I hate RE 4's movement.
Do not accuse people, that is against steam tos.
P.s. no games have aged better than doom and quake, the end. Also there is a sprint button in doom.
I never said Doom had a sprint button. I specifically said I hadn't played the vanilla game in decades
Also, Quake clearly aged better, that's why all modern FPS games play like it does, not like Doom.
I'd say you're completely missing the point, but I'm not even sure you know what you are arguing since you keep changing the subject.
You said wolfenstein didn't have a sprint button, same difference since it also does. Almost zero modern fps games play like quake, not sure if serious. Not even quake 2 feels even remotely close.
I'm not changing anything, you keep mentioning new things that are inaccurate, should I ignore everything you say in response to me?
Yes, most FPS games play pretty similar to Quake.
It's common knowledge that many games have Quake's jumping, strafing, "wall running," bunny-hopping, and rocket jumps, etc. They also have some of the same code from the original Quake, because they were literally built on derived engines or updated versions.
It feels like I am talking to a malfunctioning ChatGBT. I can only assume you haven't played an FPS in the last 20 years.
I am flabbergasted at the amount of random misinformation here. There is no point in keeping this going...
Also blocked for incessant rudeness.
Dude, seriously read a book. The Source engine is built on Quake's engine.
One engine used by nobody?
That's a game from last year.
You unblocked me just to make the most idiotic comment I have ever read.
Yeah, you can't find any games on Steam that uses one of the versions of the Source engine. You got me, pal. Not one.
