What Will Steam Do When Photo ID is Required?

New (and ridiculous) laws in the UK will require vendors that sell adult games to properly identify users when they log in. This may go as far as a verified photo and using a webcam. Obviously this will impact Steam.
My own personal belief is that Steam will just stop selling adult games in the UK. (No big loss there then!) But it brings about the question, what happens to existing games? In theory, they will need the same ID process. Can Steam just withdraw access to these games?
What do you think will happen?
Personally, I will be glad to see the back of adult sales on Steam. They have no place on a games platform.

They will probably lock adult-only games behind a wall that you need the ID verification to get through.
MAYBE they will require everyone to register their ID, but I would reckon many people would just not give up their ID and either quit Steam or remain grandfathered in as ID-less.

ID would not even be required. A verified Paypal account or a creditcard would would basically be the same thing.

Except, if it's anything like Germany did, an ID would be required.

That's why Valve blocks adult games in Germany.

I think not, as if you attempt to sell it Valve may suspend or cancel will "permanently lock" the account.

Their only other two options are to push the requirement to all users in all markets, which would not go over well and may very well be illegal in some countries; or pull out of the UK market altogether, which goes contrary to the "companies want to make money" ethos.

Assuming, as others have said, that the law even passes.

Steam already does for Germany, China, and partially to Australia if i'm not mistaken.
